Power Customization: A Job Half Finished
I also very, very much want customization on pools and epic powers, and my personal preference is to have that before I have a new powerset.
Everything that's "shiny" does not have to be brand new in its entirety.
Blue

PLEASE give APP/EPP customs at least. I hate my red electric blasts when everything else on my character is customized a certain color, it just looks wrong.
It's already in for incarnates, hoping it comes in for epics soon!
Venomous Gas should be at least colourable! It's not easy being green!

Abuse your newfound power well |
Khelds need this just as much as the others, and apart from Dwarf and Nova form powers, there isn't even the excuse of the Stone set as it's just a standard costume and character. No reason at all why we can't colour the powers other than dev whim.

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
I am going to say this about power customization: I don't consider it a job "half finished." I think the job they did on the first round of it was amazing and want more of it. The fact that costume issues exist at the APP levels and with power pools are slightly annoying, but it's the kind of annoyance that results from having something awesome to compare it to.
Power Spectrum was by far my favorite issue of City of Heroes. At the time it was released, I had pretty much stopped playing the game. I was living out of a hotel room outside Washington DC on a work project when Power Spectrum was released, and after it came out I got involved enough with the game again to purchase a laptop just to play from the hotel.
IMO part of the reason Power Customization is so great in this game is because the developers did not take the so called "lazy" route. They allowed us to change the look of each individual power per costume.
So, while I would love to see more power customization, I can't really be angry about what we've gotten so far. I want more of it, but we already have is actually the best in the industry.
Oh yeah, while we're talking power customization: one pie in the sky request I have is aura paths for projectiles. I would love to throw ice bolts wrapped in fire, arrows trailed by psychic energy, and lightning bolts surrounded by darkness. I have no idea what would go into that kind of customization, but I think it would be pretty epic (just don't tie it to the incarnate system ).
Agreed. As always when this issue comes up.
This game starts at character creation/customization. And we are getting more options added to that very frequently i.e. by making a one-time small Paragon Point purchase, you can gain access to capes/auras at level 1, as opposed to waiting until level 20/30, respectively. To be adding options like that one, which had been requested by players for quite some time, and then not allowing customization for the rest of a character's powers throughout his/her career, is illogical.
MMORPG: Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Players want to play the character first, then the content. At a certain point, it does not matter how much content you have in a game if a player cannot create the exact character they want, and that usually includes having the color of their Ancillary Power Pool defense power match the powers they are shooting at their enemies. Few people want to be surrounded by lavender electricity while firing yellow-white lightning bolts from their hands.
If you want to put off pool power customization, give the players a few more flypose emotes and a "No FX" option for Hasten and Super Speed, and I bet you can temporarily satiate the majority. And if you want to be sticklers about the colors of Patron Power Pools due to the fact that they are tied to the lore of certain signature characters, that's justified I suppose. But Ancillary Power Pools need to be color customizable because from the view of any player, new or veteran, it looks like an unfinished job.
@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.
