How to slot fluffy?

Hi,

so my newest chara, a Nin/DM mastermind, just reached level 38 and got Fluffy.

Since this is the first time I'm playing the Dark Miasma powerset, I don't yet have much experience on how often the Dark Servant utilizes which of his powers. It seems that you can slot him for a number of things - heals, immobilizes, holds, and toHit-Debuffs as well as endurance reduction and recharge. (Unfortunately, the power doesn't take the recharge-intensive pets sets.)

A friend of mine suggested healing enhancements. A couple of posts I read listed ToHit debuff and hold sets instead, but they didn't specifically say why they used those. Another post had a full set of immobilize IOs in there, but I believe they did it mainly for the set bonuses.

Would you say that slotting heal enhancements would help the most? Or would it be better to slot for immobilize, hold, or ToHit debuff? Or should I try to mix them all, maybe frankenslotting several different sets? Perhaps even some damage procs?

Dark Servant is a debuffing Tank. And is worth having out almost all the time. Therefore, Recharge is the most important thing. You can perma Fluffy with Hasten and the equivalent of two Recharge IOs in Fluffy itself.

Heals: Not worth enhancing. Fluffy throws them out too sporadically to count on. It's just a nice thing to have at times.

Damage: Fluffy has two damage attacks: Chill of the Night (damage aura) and Tenebrous Tentacles. The first is unenhanceable by any means. The second is only enhanceable through sneaking in Damage with multi-aspect IOs or HOs. Not even Incarnate Musculature will enhance Tentacles' damage. So... not worth enhancing.

Mezzes: Fluffy has a Hold (Petrifying Gaze) and an Immob (Tentacles). If you throw in a Hold enhancement, it's only going to be useful in one in five attacks. Same with Immob. It's not worth enhancing these until you can get your hands on a multi-purpose Mez Enhancer such as the HOs, Endoplasm and Peroxisome, which will only be available to slot at level 47.

ToHit: Every attack except the Hold has a -ToHit component. That is why Fluffy is a debuffing Tank. Fluffy has a better Darkest Night than you do: -15% ToHit. And Chill is another -30%. So, it's worth it to enhance the ToHit.


My recommendation: Go with Clouded Senses. Start with the three IOs that have Recharge. Then add in the Damage Proc. Then go for six slotting since it has the big Ranged Defense bonus.

Very much agree with what was extensively said above. Dark servant is your go to "walking" to hit debuff "anchor" that just so happens to ocassionally heal, immob, hold, and fear mobs. 4 pieces of clouded senses = nice recharge bonus. The other 2 slots can go for either more recharge or -to hit. All depends on what you need.

Have no experience with dark myself, but have a build I've been working on in mids... Is there any point to dropping the grav anchor and lockdown procs in fluffy?

It will only go off when Fluffy attempts to hold a foe, which will be, at best, once every 16 seconds.

Compare that to the proc from Clouded Senses which has a chance to go off with every attack, including the damage aura (but except the Hold).

So, not worth it, IMO.
