Shield Defense / Stone Melee?
Officer McGrath, my 50 Shield/Stone. He's awesome. Combo turned out to be even more fun than I figured. I highly recommend it.

What is a good Stone attack chain? I don't really pay attention or aim for the best, but at least it'd be nice to know.
Attacks-wise, your build generally has higher acc while mine has higher damage. Rech and end costs are comparable between the two.
I still favor mine, but I did take a couple ideas from yours (moving the LoTG +rech from GC to BA for the +acc bonus and using Stupefy for Fault because I had no idea what to slot in it). And as for exemping down, well... I kinda forgot to include that I don't do that.
1) Well, I agree with some of it, but not all of it. My positional defs are higher without Maneuvers than yours are with.
Yes, I tend to soft cap at about 45% not quibbling about minor percentages in order to try and gain more elsewhere in the build. Sometimes one might sacrifice alot of something else for some small percentage of defense that I know from playing pre IO sets can be easily lived without.
2) My Res are all higher.
Same as number 2, 1% res is worth 1/2% def.
3) My Regen is slightly higher, as is my max HP.
Your regen is up by 1.5hp/sec but this is small however there is a decrease in hp by 35 hitpoints lets see where this is going further.
4) My recovery is higher without Maneuvers running (as I plan on it being situational).
So this for fighting higher levels and/or accommodating -def? I didn't consider situational as I take things I use all the time. Conserve is quicker.
5) You're getting a slightly higher global recharge and a moderately better global acc bonus.
Sometimes the time and the place comes for a power and its not good if its not there. The only thing thats dramatically dropped is conserve energy but a recharge has most to do with that. So its not that dramatic, not a necessity.
6) What is a good Stone attack chain? I don't really pay attention or aim for the best, but at least it'd be nice to know.
Depends on how much you can give yourself without sacrificing too much of the utility of your build.
People can pattern it to a fight cycle, average fight duration is say 20s, time to get to and herd next mob 5 secs, meaning that their end rec vs end use is balanced over 25s.
With Tankers you focus on Aggro control, of say the aggro cap and it pays to finish the fight as soon as possible. Your cone attacks hit upto 5 and your aoes hit upto 10, so the damage per endurance of each attack when an aoe is multiplied by the maximum number of targets the attack can hit. The more AoE you do, the less single target attacks you have to use, A cone attack need only hit a minimum of two targets to do the same amount of damage per end point as a single target attack, when it hits 5 its done 2.5 times the damage per end as a single target attack, therefore potentially saving you the use of an attack. AoEs hit 10, min req to equal a single target attack is 4 therefore saving the use of single target attacks again. The saved use is saved time, the repetitive use of AoEs save time. I don't say this thinking you don't already know I am just explaining myself. With Tankers though you do on occasion run into AVs and a single target attack chain can be important to, alot more in some cases to maintaining threat, sometimes you might want to kill an AV before they kill you, which is better? Sustainable DPS or Burst? I prefer sustainable. Nothing worse than running out of end and having some NPC/AV end drain ya last bit bit, detoggle you and lights out.
So look at your attack chain, work out how much end you use over it, add that to your toggles (now I know manuevers is optional played on you) and then compare that to your end rec. A lot of people get other people to be tools for the job. Like getting someone who gives +end in order to fight Neuron, I like to not give a toot and have builds that I feel don't make me give a toot. Extra def on Itrials can come from any of the masses of people or failing that and looking at my combat attributes I can pop insps.
7) Attacks-wise, your build generally has higher acc while mine has higher damage. Rech and end costs are comparable between the two.
What I first noticed was Stone Fist and how underslotted it was. This attack provides -res which would help a team take an AV down faster. -Fight duration is good for you and anyone else. I always slot this attack. I like to see all attacks taken and used slotted well. My belief is why hit them twice when you could of hit them once? But looking at it again you could decide on whether you prefered Seismic Smash slotted with ToDs or Stonefist. What is different I think is Shield Charge. I didn't really play around with your attacks as they seemed fine but the Shield Charge in mine I thought was better over time.
8)I still favor mine, but I did take a couple ideas from yours (moving the LoTG +rech from GC to BA for the +acc bonus and using Stupefy for Fault because I had no idea what to slot in it). And as for exemping down, well... I kinda forgot to include that I don't do that.
I am here to offer an alternative idea, there is the playstyle and the philosophy side to us all that you can't read in a build so this is not seen as a competition but merely there for suggestions. When I spend 5 mins I spend 5 mins. I ultimately think that people can take bits and pieces or nothing or all of it, either way it is still playable. There are some factors like cost. I sometimes change things to lower the cost. Am like "I ain't paying for that". You do have other bonuses in my build but with conserve energy being of faster rechg then you'd have to work out the endurance factor. Edit: Most of it was still yours to favour.
Truth be told I should of gave it 10 mins not 5 XD
Edit 2: Also I play on Justice and Defiant too, wonder if we already know eachother XD

I also just realised that I replied at 3:39 and you updated your build later, I did feel I was looking at a different build when answering what you said. I will say I find nothing dishonest but it left me confused abit.

I updated it after I read your first post and looked at the build.
I not long started on Justice, with one 50 so far which is a AR/Energy blaster called Letitia Sherlock. I haven't met any of your toons. My Shield/SS on Justice is called Gemma Shield, still leveling her off and on..22 so far.
On Defiant I have 36 characters but I guess the oldest one is Katalina a Scrapper. I play on Union, Defiant, Vigilance and Justice whenever, not every night so am one of them what come and disappear to people never hanging around long enough to know people properly.

Heroine of Time, Phyrexia, Pansie, Falryx, Ellya, Aryxa, Zharan, Obsidious Revolver, Crimson Earthwalker, and a variety of other randomly named lowbies that may or may not exist within the next month. These are my Justice toons. As for Defiant, I don't know... there's only two or three.

I created a SD/SM character quite awhile back, and have been having a blast with him. Mostly it was on a whim, after feeling a bit burnt out about playing Super Strength on more than a few characters... and also because I really liked the stone hammer animations
I'm only about 33 on him, but this is the build I'm currently working towards:

One of my major changes compared to the other posted builds is dropping Grant Cover in favor of Hurl Boulder (not in the exact spot, but in the grand scheme of things), simply because I found the defense granted wasn't particularly helpful in most teams: there was either way more than necessary or less than necessary (and the toggle was a bit more than I could afford at lower levels), and because flying enemies can be a huge pain in the butt.
I also pick up a little more AoE with Mu Mastery, which is more of a personal choice than anything else. I like to keep two general attack chains on most of my characters: a single target one, and an AoE one. I'm not 100% sure how it will play once I hit my late 40's, but I'm looking forward to finding out
Has anyone ever tried this combo out before?
Code:
I made a Shield/SS tank yesterday, but I just don't like SS's animations. So I decided that I'd try out a Shield/Stone tank because I think they're pretty similar, and Stone just looks like it hurts... unlike SS. I've put some time into it today, and I love it.
That said, I'd like to know what you guys recommend with this combo. I'm an avid fan of Shield, but I know absolutely NOTHING about Stone Melee. Are there powers that I should get? Shouldn't get? etc. etc.
Also, I threw a quick build together on Mids' just to try it out, if anyone would be so kind as to critique/improve it. It has softcapped positional defenses, decent resists, gets about 1.25% HP/sec and 2.15 end/sec, and it seems like a build I'd enjoy. I went ahead and grabbed Maneuvers to help make up for the slight lack of DDR, just in case (and it's not counting towards the active total).
All-in-all, I'm just looking for a solid, fun build. This toon will only handle general game content. NO INCARNATE STUFF. I don't have the time nor the patience to get any slot other than the Alpha unlocked and slotted. Also, I know that I could use HamiOs to really help out with the DDR, but I don't have the time nor patience nor inf for that either. I'm just a casual player.
