Fire/Shield build?

I have my fire/shield scrapper at lvl 47 and i am looking ahead to what I will need to do after I hit 50. I haven't slotted a character with sets before so I know very little about how to do this. I am on a budget.

At the moment I am having end troubles. I would also like to focus on damage and offense while still trying to hit that "soft cap" that I hear so much about.

So, any advice please?

What's the budget? Are we talking 1 billion, 200 million? 10 million?

well i have a total of about 200 mill on another character. Dont want to spend all that though. Just curious. If it would become a better farmer than my dual blades/ willpower Brute then I could justify it.

Perhaps better to focus on my Brute. Still, no harm in learning a little about what could become a cool 50.

It would be better than the brute, but will take a decent investment. Honestly, you should post a build so people have something to work with. The only build I have for that pairing 200m wouldnt be enough for.

If however, you are enjoying the brute, run with that. Any 50 you are having fun on is a cool 50.

Well... yes i am loving the Brute but would like to play both characeters. It's all a matter of inf. Bah! inf. so sad.

ty. I'll persevere.

edit: roughly how much more for a good build?

I put together a budget levelling build for my own fire/shield prior to respeccing into a much more expensive level 50 build, so it can be done on a relative shoestring. I've adjusted what I had on mids for inherent fitness for you, maybe it'll give you some help. I'd recommend cardiac alpha to make end use more manageable, and also to bolster your resistance. I'm not really sure how much this would cost, as prices are volatile so soon after DXP weekend but there's not much that usually costs a lot, and very few sets needing rare salvage if you're doing the crafting yourself.

Just for the record, at level 47 you can start slotting level 50 IOs now, you don't have to wait until 50 to put them in there.

I need a little more help...

Some sets I am looking at in Mid's show a level range. Also, when I searched in-game at the trading houses looking up sets some will only show up at lower levels.

So... I can only pick from a couple of sets?

ty!

So... please, how does a level range work?

Quickly, A level 50 toon can use/slot all the sets in the game even if the level range ends at say, 40, and still get the set bonus's(usual caveats apply. exemping for example)

However, a level 20 toon cannot slot a set where the level range starts at 30. You need to be 27 in order to start slotting that set.

Thanks guys. I feel all full of information.

Can you slot two different sets on the one power? I am thinking about Shield Defense's power "Deflection". If I have 6 slots can I slot three power from a set using resist and three for defense?

I see you have mids. It is a pretty accurate program, and is pretty much what you can expect to see in game, numbers wise. The enhancments you can slot in game, are all available to see in Mids.

To answer your question directly, yes. Yes you can.

You should take a look at Fulmans guide to frankenslotting. It is really helpfull, especially when on a budget.
