CoH Updater Not Showing

Okay, so here is my issue. I just recently bought Going Rogue from Gamestop. I came home to install it, and did so just fine. The problem came when I had to run it. Originally, I had CoH installed under the NCsoft Launcher, but when I tried to run the game after GR was installed, it gave me an error. So, I decided to try uninstalling the whole, and reinstall it using the CD, which states that it is the complete collection, therefore it includes all three. I did so, and it installed without a hitch, however, now, I can't run CoH at all. I click on the game to run, and the game nor the Updater show up. I've tried running as the admin, and multiple other things. I've discovered that under the task manager, on the processes tab, that it says the Launcher/Updater is there, but on the desktop it doesn't display it. I tried trouble shooting it myself, with no luck. I also tried getting the CoHhelper for you guys, but I get an error there too. Right now I'm trying to get Hijack This to work, which, surprise, isn't working either.

Make sure you run the NCSoft launcher as an Administrator, as well... especially if you're using the default installation directory for CoH.

My boyfriend had this issue as well - also on Win7 SP1. The only fix was to bundle the whole Launcher from my computer and send it to him as a zip file. He unzipped it and ran the NCLauncher.exe from inside there (you'll have to manually create shortcuts on your desktop and/or start menu), and hasn't had a problem since.

I re-zipped my launcher and uploaded it just now (to prove it's legit, I put my name in the descrip ). Hopefully this works for you, too.

Alright, update:

The CoHHelper still isn't working even after I attempted repairing it. As for running as the admin, that didn't work either.

As for the Launcher, I downloaded it, unzipped it, and came up with the same problem.

Here is some more info: I get this error when I try running from the NCSoftLauncher.

I'm getting these same errors when I launch CoH from the launcher

Error parsing command line argument 'launcher 1'
Error parsing command line argument 'setlocale 1033'
unknown auth protocol: 100903

Then the main game log in screen pops up, I type my username and password hit the button to log in, and CoH freezes on that screen.

It sounds like your game is not up-to-date. In the NCSoft Launcher, make sure the circle to the left of the game is green. If, not, right-click on the game and select "Update" or "Repair (Consistency Check)". The update should be faster, but if you show a green light, then try the Repair.

Also, you can right click on the game and select Properties and see what your local version of the game is in relation to the patch server version and make sure they are the same.

Have this same issue, bought the Going Rogue Complete Collection today and installed it via cd. Then when it was done installing it didn't want to open the client through the shortcut it created, so I downloaded ncsoft launcher and updated the files. I am currently on green atm but when I launch the game I get Error parsing command line argument 'launcher 1' then, Error parsing command line argument 'setlocale 1033'. After that it takes me to the login screen and when I enter my password this pops up, unknown auth protocol: 100903 then it just closes on me. Anyone have any update on this issue? I did everything that was recommended above me but nothing worked.

The collection comes with the old updater which no longer functions, so that part is right (unfortunately).

Right-click your launcher shortcut, select Properties, and check in the Target: line. What does it say there?

I'm having this issue. I attempted to update after right clicking the game and instead it forces me to run the repair.

It was a completely fresh install of the game and the circle was red afterwards (expected due to knowing it wouldn't be up to date) I right clicked it and selected update. It's errored on me and then told me to repair the game to bring it up to date.

Please don't necro post, it makes it much harder to figure out what's going on (plus, Mod 13 locks necro posting threads).


What happens after you let it repair? Have you let it repair? Does it fail to repair the game? And, you are using the NCSoft Launcher, right?
