One thing he can try is /mouse_invert
Might work. Might need a 1 or 0 at the end.
Don't know of a tool tip display command.
One option that MIGHT work is using the option save/load commands edit the options file and have him load that via slash command.

Tried mouse_invert, same error. Tried loading, it loaded but when he tried to applu what he loaded it gave that error.
Any time he tries to change anything on the options or keybinds on the trial, either via menus or via / commands, he gets the error that he can't do that on a trial account.
That is odd. When I opened a new trial account 2-3 weeks ago I was able to adjust the settings. This must be a new thing they have implemented.
They also added a little window you can't get rid of that is always on the screen asking if you want to buy a real account.

Just put it behind your map, you don't have to have it obstruct the view.

No luck, the error is:
You cannot do that because you are playing on a trial account.
hmmm. I wonder if maybe they locked options on trials because certain options(like email) could override the trial limitations and unlock features(yeah saying "oh well no options for them" was the easy fix, but they might've).
Keybinds is going too far though. I won't play a game no matter how good it appears if I don't like the controls. I didn't even fully appreciate CoH til I got a gamepad lol

I started a trial account about a week ago and could invert the mouse controls for the first couple of days.
Then when I logged back in just a couple of days ago I couldn't invert anymore and got the "trial account" message. It seems like something changed very recently.

Mouse invert shows up as a line in the options.txt file, in the root City of Heroes folder ( wherever you have installed it ).
While not running the game, try opening that file in Notepad and change
MouseInvert 0
to
MouseInvert 1
Maybe it'll stick.

But I forgot, it should also load from that on a new character - so your friend might want to try making a new one after making sure that's changed.
