Elec or Rad for Kinetics?

Hi all.

I'm making a new Kin and I'm torn between these two blast sets as I've played neither of them very much.

I'm leaning towards Elec due to stacking holds but I don't know if Voltaic Sentinel can be buffed in any way. Plus it's a classic sapper build.

However, Rad seems to have more AoE although I'm told its attacks lack punch. Also a stun isn't quite as nice as a hold.
Any advice on which would be the better match and why would be greatly appreciated.

Voltaic Sentinal will not be buffed. Perhaps it will inherit your buffs when summoned, that I'm not sure of but FSing an existing VS will not increase its damage.

I'm going to avoid answering "what's better?" They're both on the light side for damage, both have a pbaoe for post-FS and an AOE to follow-up.

It sounds like your leaning to electric and that's reason enough to go for it. I would say there's no compelling enough reason to counter with "No to elec, rad is far superior!"

IMO Electric also lacks punch. Also the endurance drain is not worth it for the set IMO (For PvE). Although I do like Voltaic Sentinel because it adds a considerable amount of damage when compared to the other powers and it can not be targeted or killed, but it's duration is way too short for my tastes. Although I have to say I love Ball Lightning with the endurance drain stun proc slotted.

I like Rad blast because of the -def of the powers which allows slotting for 3 (Damage, Defense Debuff, Accurate Defense Debuff) and sometimes a 4th enhancement category (Disorient, Snipe, Knockback). It gives a much better variety when building.

With that said I wouldn't worry too much about either sets "lack of punch" because you will have both Siphon Power and Fulcrum shift.

I love playing my Rad/Kin. Every attack has at least an Achilles' to keep up the -resistance while she's capped on +dam, and most of the attacks have a damage proc as well (Atomic Blast is an exception with none, and Neutrino Bolt and Irradiate each have 2). The animation for the PBAoE is fast, which means that you can react faster when you're in the thick of things. And Cosmic Burst gives you a hard hitting attack and mag 3 mez in one.

While I haven't played Elec/Kin - or, for that matter, Electric Blast past level 25 - I'd go with Rad.

I've had good luck with both.

If you're willing to devote a slot or two, electric gives you additional sapping capability. True, its not much for damage but if your target can't shoot, you win.

Radiation can add defense debuffs to the whole picture which means that the damage you can do counts for more.

Go for either.
