Ok soooooo after playing so many melee toons scrappers, tank and brutes I thought why not make something I've never have before so I made a rad//devices

I have no idea how to build one... Play one but I played A little bit last night got her to lvl six and had fun Loved her little PBAoE running the sewers. Pop into the baddies blast off the PBAoE hurts them for DoT and lowers there def then pop out and let the rest of the team kill them LOVE IT ....., and her name is my fav part "Toxidia"

So I don't care if the build sucks and oh doesn't have good dmg or whatever ii like it so far and ima stick with it. I need help tho because with building melee people is prob so much different then blasters so would anyone mind helping me out on
-what to build for
-what type of powers do I get? Stuff for me or like buffs for me and team example like the leadership pool
-and ummmm what type of IOs would I use like ones that give me def or res or both OR none of the above
IVE NEVER built one b4 so just some help would be nice Once I get home tonight I'll post a build that I think would be the way to go

Thats quite an interesting and rare combination, and one that could work well.

In general, Blasters live and die by the amount of damage they can produce. You'll typically have some single target control for dealing with leiutenants and bosses who'll survive your alpha strike, but minions go down fast.

Devices is a bit different. It has no Build Up, so less burst damage, but provides more safety tools than some other secondaries. Radiation Blast helps counter the low burst damage by giving you three area attacks instead of two. Aim, Electron haze, Neutron Bomb, Irradiate should take out all minions at any level.

Caltrops will let you get in amongst a group safely and let off Irradiate while they're running away in slow motion.

Cosmic Burst is a must as your highest damage attack and your mez, and will work well with Taser for stunning a boss. Slot Cosmic Burst for damage over stun.

Ignore team buffs like Assault, but take Aim definitely as your self damage boost (+65% for ten seconds).

Targetting Drone is definitely redundant with all the -def in radiations attacks.

I'd advise against Proton Volley (the snipe), but take everything else in your primary. From your secondary, take Web Grenade, Caltrops, Taser, Trip Mine if you want to solo, and maybe Gun Drone as must haves.

35 Rad/dev here. I have all of the primaries and skipped taser, smoke grenade, and time bomb in devices. I took cj + sj + acro and assault and tactics.

I found the -Def aspect of rad insufficient to reliably hit foes with future attacks. Enter targeting drone. I. Probably overkilled it with tactics, but this allowed me to totally ignore accuracy slotting. This in turn allowed some serious frankenslotting for damage/recharge/endredux. Which in turn enabled fun set skirting in caltrops, drone, and web grenade.

I also like devices as it adds lethal damage to rad's energy. Variety is good.

Overall rad/dev is great for a ranged concept, for soloing, and for stealthing.

I probably need to respec into taser to combo with cosmic burst, at least for the solo build.

I really don't know much about rad. But as a devices fan, and knowing a rad has PbAoE that you love so much, I hightly advise S/L defense soft cap.

It's -really- easy to get to.
Scorpion shield (or the ugly ice armor) gives you around 22%
Weave 5%
Combat jump 2%
Cloaking device 2%
Tough (3% with IO)
That's alone almost 35% without IOing.

Reticule on aim and drone gives you another 3.6% total. Kinetic Combat on brawl or/and kick another 3.75% each. There's a level 30 slow set that gives S/L defenses with 4 slots for caltrops and a 4 slots immob set that can be put on web grenade. It is extremely easy to get S/L cap on a /devices.

Why is it so important? Because you can PbAoE without taking damage of the most common damage type in the game. Roughly 80%+ of the enemies you will face deal S/L typed damage or mixed. And most importantly, you can set land mines on their face. It's also great to get an aid self off while under attack.

You wont even need 45%, you have smoke grenade with is -7% to hit, so... 38% is more than enough. With CJ, Cloaking Device, tough IO and Weave, you have 13% all defenses, with smoke grenade, it's around 20%. It -really- saves lifes, especially for a blaster, you will notice a huge increase on your survivability.
