Returning Necro/dark

Hiya Forumistas -

I recently resubscribed, in part due to the amount of fun I was missing playing my necro/dark (and because I received an e-mail from NCSoft offering a couple days of free game time but that's not important - I eventually resubscribed to feed my CoX addiction).

In looking over my beloved mm, I noticed some problems that I have tried to alleviate. Below is the build to which I am working, and I would appreciate some assistance in making sure I remain on the straight and narrow.

I use this toon to masochistically play incarnate content and while farming merits. It has T3 alpha musculature but no other slots as yet unlocked (I know the mids data lists something else - I can't seem to change it). I have most of the enhancements included below, or can afford a reasonable amount of improvement.

Key questions:

1) I know my resistance shield slotting stinks - is there a better recommendation?

2) I have focused primarily on recharge with the goal of overlapping howling twilight when soloing big game.

3) Is it worth shifting PPP and slots around to def cap a necro/dark (or within one inspiration) and play like a tankermind?

4) anything else ....

Thank you for any help you can offer.

I can chuck out two or three things that might help you.
One: Invention defense debuff in grave knights. Replace it with a lady gray damage proc. Either you're hitting already, which means it's probably useless. Or you're missing which means it's not debuffing anything.
Two: Soulbound proc in Grave knights. Last I expirienced about a year, year and a half ago, it doesn't actually do anything unless the pet is level 50, or above. So... I'd experiment with that one.
Three: I would find that build anemic in recovery terms. But I like to overslot for that, so your mileage may vary.
Four: In my necro/dark, I chucked an endoplasm exposure onto the lich. His status effects are worth extending. Even for a little. His damage is actually ... a bit more then what you'd think it would be too, due to a large amount of it's AOE nature.

Thank you for the reply. I'll certainly replace the grave nights' def debuff- that seems like a sexy substitute. Will also check out the lich changes and stress test the recovery.

For the Soulbound proc, I'll just have to watch the combat log. Is there a tool to analyze the log?

Thanks again!

I am not going to pick too much little details, people do things differently and all that jive.

I would personally say that do dual slot the hasten with reductions. I mean optimally you might get it run allmost nonstop. This will help alot in summoning Mr. Fluffy and making his fluffygoodness appreciated without break.
Hmm, do you really need so much endurance that your slotting stamina with multiple things that affect endurance rates?

Get rid of soul tentacles and get opressive gloom, its suprisingly good and even better when used in bodyguard mode. It wont kill you as pets draw minimal damage it running and stunning critters.

I use full Aegis set in my patron resistance shield, the status effect duration reduction bonus Aegis's unique button gives is nice.

Your Howling Twilight is pretty heavily slotted too, but I admit some necromancers like using it as a offensive weapon.

Is there any other way?

Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.

Thanks for the suggestions. Regarding oppressive gloom I intend to spec back into o cert I can drop recall friend. For hasten, I grabbed it more for extra breathing room when thicken get crazy- fluffy is already permanent and she can't be double-stacked.

For the end, I see what you mean. Most times (99.999%) it's overkill. I don't remember the last time I copper toggles.

And howling twilight- oh how I love thee. I use it very offensively. So I want it like I want a partner: cheap and up often (whoops- pretend I didn't write that).

Now to address an earlier issue:

Regarding soulbound allegiance procs, search-fu revealed it functions in tier1 and 2 pets. See: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...llegiance+proc

In addition it shows up in the combat log when the process goes off. My Grave knights get some serious mileage out of the invention.

Thank you all again for your help. This process really helps with getting a solid grasp on developing a solid, informed style of gameplay.
