Containment

Given that dominators can now go heroside and domination seems to be far better providing bonus to both primary and secondary powersets whereas Containment only provides buffs to primary but only at a small chance to proc, don't we think its time for Containment to get a buff and make a Controller be better at controlling than a Dominator? Sure a Dominator can outdamage a controller, but I want to see my Controller have quite a lot more success at controlling than a dominator.

Controllers do control better than Doms, outside of domination. And contrary to what some people seem to think, permadoms are a minority. And Controllers of course have buffs/debuffs that Doms don't.

I think you have Containment confused with Overpower.

Containment is the damage bonus Controllers get versus any foes that are slept, held, Immbo'd or stunned.

Overpower is the 20-50% chance of getting an extra point of Magnitude and extra duration.

Perma-dom aside, a Controller will usually be able to control mobs better. They have a bit more mag and longer duration. A controller has a 20% chance of holding a boss in one hit. A Dominator CANNOT do that UNLESS they have Domination up.

And if a Dom has Domination up, then they can do things a Controller cannot.

So as far as pure control is concerned, its Dominators < Controllers < PermaDoms

Allied to all sides so that no matter what, I'll come out on top!
Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

Keep in mind that as great as perma-dom is, the situations you need it most are where you're most likely to lose it. Did you just die on that iTrial? Oh, enjoy building your Dom bar back up surrounded by enemies who can obliterate you and with a secondary that doesn't contribute a lot to your survival. There's definitely a "Jekyll and Hyde" element to Dominators when you start pushing the limits. And if you're unlucky enough to die 3 or 4 times back to back, the limitation starts to become increasingly apparant.

Eh, its possible to build up domination without having enemies around (clicking, then quickly interrupting your snipe will still build domination, and you don't really need enemies near you, plus the Frenzy temp power (the one for reaffirming your alignment) will automatically fill your dom bar every few minutes.

Death isn't as bad as it used to be on permadoms.

That's what Frenzy is for.

Granted you have to stay redside to keep that, but it might just be worth it.

Some of them, right.

I doubt if most Dominators these days (or players in general) are villains, and the snipe isn't usually worth the full slot IMO.

You're probably right, but frenzy for Brutes and Dominators is one of the few good reasons to stay Villain.

Eh, while the 'snipe' itself isn't really worth using, it makes a very nice set mule. +dam, +rech, and +def all come in the Sting of the Manticore set, and every perma can use more of those things.

If i couldn't spare the slots, the snipe would be the first thing i'd drop, but if i had room for it, it'd take it just for the set bonuses.

Being able to perma-dom without an enemy is just a bonus.
