Mind/Ice?
Early on you'll want to 5-6 slot Mesmerize and Dominate. When you approach a spawn solo, mesmerize one, dominate the other, and beat up the third with whatever attacks you have. Once one is down, kill the guy you held, and then hold the guy you slept and kill him. Shazam. If you have mass hypnosis up regularly, then sleep the entire spawn and hold one guy at a time while you murder him.
You'll want the ice sword attacks, since they're the most damaging attacks you get until you hit 35 and 38. Even at 35 and 38 /ice isn't a real powerhouse, so be patient. Until you get a bit more solid AoE mezzing ability, be careful winging around your ice AoEs, since those break sleep. If you're on a team then by all means go crazy with them. Sleep runners until someone can catch up with them and hold anything really annoying (CoT ghosts, legacy chain bosses, etc) so they don't ruin everything for the team. So how quick you slot up your attacks depends on how much teaming you're doing.
EDIT: Oh and confuse is just...well it's the best power ever. The only thing to consider while solo is that if you confuse a guy, he will wake up everyone you have slept, so be aware. On a team just confuse whoever is the most annoying (CoT ghosts, sappers, etc) or anyone with a heal or buff (Longbow Wardens).
If you want to stay at range while you're starting out, go for it. Melee attacks are typically stronger for doms, though. Mind is a very safe primary to use. Mesmerize can sleep bosses with 1 shot. So Mesmerize bosses, confuse buff/debuff mobs, and hold/kill whatever else is there. As long as you don't try to solo beyond your limit (like team size 3-4 and up) you should be pretty safe to use melee attacks and everything will be locked down.
Slot Mesmerize as a damage power instead of sleep as it's base duration is ridiculous. Abuse the crap out of Confuse, too. I like to slap a mob with Mass Hypno, confuse at least half of them, then rush in to attack. Once you get Terrify, this will be your opener after you've slept them and are ready to attack and don't have Total Dom or Mass Conf up.
Mesmerize, Levitate, Telekineses, and Total Domination are skippable powers. Between Mes and Lev I think it's one or the other. I prefer Mes because I like to sleep multiple AVs and Mes lets me cover misses. Telekinesis takes some practice to use properly and Total Domination has a shorter duration compared to your other AoE mezzes.
SG: Guadians of Paragon - VG: Paragon's Darkness
The Usual Suspects: Fimboolvetr (Icer Tank), Tsukiyomi (Mind/Psi/Ice Dom), Smiting Dragon (Dm/Sr Scrap), Widow Mortis (NW)
Up and Comers: Ameterasu (Km/Reg Scrap), Arrhymian (Elec/Nin Stalk), TDMKII (Bot/Traps MM)
I definitly intend to get mass confusion when it's available but I was debating whether or not to pick up the single one.
So far i'm set at +1 my level and have only just realised I can have myself getting mobs enough for more than one hero when solo
Right now though I get about 2-4 of yellow/orange/red. As i'm only level 10 the only mass power I have is hypno so it kinda goes:-
Mass Hypno
sleep mob 1 (usually the biggest)
hold mob 3/4 (the weakest)
Sleep mob 2
hold 3/4
Beat up the held while refreshing sleep as needed and whittle them down
I may not be the quickest but that's ok because i'm enjoying myself too much to care.
I might invest in the swords since I think I can get a respec at 24 so if I don't like them I can get rid then.
My Dom is on hold for now though while i've been trying a hero defender (I really wanted to try mission architech and my Dom is praetorian)

And yes you can run the Respec trials starting at level 24, so feel free to try things out however you see fit. :-)

I kind went a little backwards in creating my Dom lol must have been that stunning character creation fuzzling my head. I made her a Praetorian because i'd like to have her as a hero one day and I chose Mind/Ice. It was only after her creation that I realised I should probably come here and look for a guide on how to make the most of her.
I couldn't find a Mind/Ice guide in the sticky nor can I find any relevent threads (I'll be the first to admit, my searching power sucks).
Mind - I love this. I did try out a couple of the other primaries but kept coming back to mind. Just got Mass Hypno and I can see how when it's got some more power behind it, it will be as good as people say.
Ice - I don't know why I like this but I do. I was thinking of skipping the two early sword powers because i'm not sure I want to get in melee range. Maybe once i'm big enough to have the AoE hold and Mass Confuse i'll revisit this choice.
Travel - So far I only have hover (I really want to fly ) I know eventually i'll need to get Hasten for the recharge.
I do spend alot of my time playing solo but i'm not too opposed to team play. Perhaps when/If I find a good Supergroup(?). PvP may be something I look at later but for now i'm happy to leave it alone.
Could anyone give me some advice on how to proceed and with slotting. Also as i'm still very new, I don't have much in the way of funding so expensive enhancements are off the table for now.
I don't need an endgame build or any serious hand holding as I do like to figure some stuff out, just wanting to not totally screw myself over by picking something that I wont enjoy or use much.
Thankyou in advance for any helpful replies
