Hi

I recently subscribed to CoH after trying to the 7 day free trial and am having a blast. I remember playing a trial years ago before Villains came out and remembered how much fun it was.

Now i've been running around Praetoria so that I can eventually make my MM and Dom Heroes (at 20 I believe). They're still only very low about 10 and during my off time i've been browsing the forums and I stumbled across this section. The chance to make my own arcs and have people play them, woo hoo!

Do I need to have left Praetoria and be a bit bigger before I can make a story arc? If not, where in Praetoria would I find the place to go?

I've scanned some tutorials on creating my arc but either i'm not seeing the answer i'm after or i'm blind as a bat. If it is here somewhere could someone please post me a link to the relevent thead.

Thankyou in advance for any helpful replies

Praetoria doesn't have an AE building, so you have to wait until you're out of there. Once out, you don't have to be any 'bigger', no. Any toon at any level can make an arc as long as they can get into an AE building.

Hi Raeda, and welcome to the City! Unfortunately the citizens of Praetoria have no access to the wonder that is Architect Entertainment. When you leave Praetoria, though, there will be an AE building in either Talos Island or Sharkhead Isle (where you go is dependent on your final choice in Praetoria).

Luckily for you, that is the only level restriction on the Architect system. If you create a hero or villain from scratch, there is an AE building in Atlas Park and Mercy Island.

Enjoy your time in the city and please post your arc on the forums when you complete it! We would all love to give it a shot and post our feedback.

Now that you're a subscriber, all you need to do is not be in Pretoria. The buildings containing the AE interface don't exist there. To exit pretoria you'll have to reach level 20 with your current characters.

After you enter "Primal" Earth just open your map, find the AE symbol and go into that building, up the lift to a terminal and you can make up to three arcs with your free slots. Expect your first attempt to be long and tedious while you learn the interface and what can and can't be done in a mission grouping though. Don't get discouraged most of us spent a good little while scratching our heads at how it all worked and what we could and couldn't pull off in a mission before finally getting something that we could publish.

Oh excellent, thankyou very much for the help

Once i've gotten to the right place and had a play around to figure things out I will definitly post my arc for you all to play and give feedback on. I mean, I don't expect it to win any awards but hopefully when my insomnia kicks in and the creative juices are flowing i'll produce something that will be mildly entertaining.

The only pre-warning I can think to give though is when i'm zoned out in my head being creative and what-not, I both type and talk 'funny' so it's highly likely that it wont make sense to anyone not as odd as me

Bah, don't sugar-coat things, expect it to be long and tedious every time you make a new mission!

As with anything else 'worth doing' in life though, so, so worth it.

Haha...
You will fit in well around here!!

Welcome to the game!!

And yeah, answers have been given...

Just so you know, you could create a new character right away that starts in Paragon City or the Rogue Isles and begin working on the Mission Architect.

Actually, you'll want to run a few missions through the Mission Architect (AE buildings) in order to earn tickets to buy/unlock some cool stuff for your missions (more selections of maps, costumes, NPCs).
There's plenty to start with, but ya know... when it comes to creating stuff, the more options the crazier you can go!

It doesn't take too much to unlock that stuff, as far as I remember.

Best of luck!

Are the tickets account based or character based? I think the arc limit is account based right? If the tickets are too then I may just go do that.

The tickets get awarded to the character, but all of the things you buy/unlock are global/account-wide unlocks, so any character can log in and mess with those options in AE!

Ahhh, that might explain why I see level 2 characters in Praetoria with capes then.

Methinks I shall make a Hero and go give this a play.

Thankyou everyone so much

Those capes aren't a part of it, as the AE tickets are only for stuff used to make AE/Mission Architect stuff.

The low-level capes are from Booster packs and/or vet rewards (single shoulder cape).

Just in case you've not been pointed to it...

The Paragon Wiki is the greatest resource of info (along with these forums) and I use it a lot to remind myself of details I may have forgotten or never learned about.

For the most part, this game is simple and all, but there are always greater layers of detail for any and all interesting things...

Here's a bit about the different capes available at level one:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Costumes#Capes_and_Auras
(which includes links to the different boosters and such that provide some of them)

Enjoy!!!

Actually, most of those wearing capes are either wearing capes from one of the multitude of boosters we've gotten or some other in-game item pack (i.e. Valkyrie). However, once you get a character to level 50 and start participating in the Incarnate System, one of the rewards you can get in the system is a cape unlock feature which will unlock a cape for ONE level 1 character that you have.

Short answer, those lowbies are more than likely piggy-backing off one of their higher level characters.

Edit: And too slow of course

Sadly as it turns out youcan\t use the Incarnate Cloak at level 1

Enjoy your day please.
