Please critique my 50 Fire/Fire Build
There are a lot of fire/ builds out there on this forum here is one with my build that I use for HAMI and I do not have any HAMI IOs in it http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=262408
What do you want to do with your character? Do you want to farm or tank general content? Do you want to be a DPS or a pure tank?
In any case, adding defense sets is the easiest way to make a character tough. Which ones you choose will depend on how tough you want to make your character and what you want to use your character for. Believe it or not, you can afford any build with a little effort. Do your tip missions every day and do the morality mission to get the alignment merit. Collect two of those and you can buy a Luck of the Gambler global recharge IO which sold for over 100 million crafted last time I checked the market. Use that to make enough INF to put together any build you want. Purples are going to be difficult to get with that method but everything else is within your reach. Also, there may be other inventions worth buying with A-merits but I'll let you discover what is valuable.
My immediate thought was, too many slots in combat jump, not enough slots in Blazing Aura. BA would do with more end red and CJ is too low +def or costs too little in -end to worry.
Truth be told I am not settled on my firetanks build, the day I can deliberately be under perma RotP debt protection and tank well inbetween eludes me. Theres a fine line between just survivable for x amount of time and anything else.
Too many ways to go but I'd healing wounds in healing flames to start. Try something to what Syntax is asking.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
I responded to your post in my guide as well, but if you need cash, I would recommend setting up a build in Mid's that you want to shoot for, and you should be able to get a fair amount of inf from selling the Hami-Os you don't use on the market (the ones that help your end and resistance go for a lot on their own... I sold one for 300-400 mill the other week when it dropped on a Hami raid). Most don't go for that much, but they will help.
Do you stealth all that much? If my team needs to get to the end of a mission, I usually just tanker stealth to the end (leap through without my aura going). Also, you can still be seen by anyone with just that IO, you're just cutting down on the range they can see you at: you need to stack it with another forum of stealth to not be seen by most mobs. Even then... I'd say a Tank should be seen. Unless you really need that IO on this guy or another character, stealth IOs sell pretty well also.
And like New Dawn said, use your slots wisely. Combat Jumping is good with its default slot. You can save up merits to get a LoTG +recharge in there (only 200, which is doable after a few task forces, especially if you run the WST and get the extra merits). Or just a defense enhancement. The few times I have had more than one slot in there, it was for a bonus of some sort... maybe to have a Kismet +accuracy as well.
At any rate, I'd highly recommend going for defense to add on to your build. It makes you a lot more survivable, and you can do pretty good damage with my defense build
Guide: Tanking, Wall of Fire Style (Updated for I19!), and the Four Rules of Tanking
Story Arc: Belated Justice, #88003
Synopsis: Explore the fine line between justice and vengeance as you help a hero of Talos Island bring his friend's murderer to justice.
Grey Pilgrim: Fire/Fire Tanker (50), Victory
This is one of my "main" level 50 characters, and one I played through a lot of Hami Raids so I have a lot of Hami-Os built in—but not a lot of invention set enhancements. Everything that's slotted in this is something I have or can build.
I'm looking for advice on inexpensive set IOs I can add to make my build tougher, and also whether there's anything I've forgotten in here that might affect my ability to tank.
Thanks!
