75 month vet, now noob needs help
- Spiritual for the alpha slot
- Undecided for Destiny. It might be Barrier, but when I ran the numbers on a top end Katana/Regen, it came out as Rebirth despite the old rule of thumb, "the last thing Regen needs is more regeneration".
- Void for Judgment if you're looking for the extra survivability.
- I think most people prefer the Reactive Radial Flawless Interface.
- I don't have a build, but for a PvE DB/Regen, you're after recharge, recharge, defense, and more recharge, like pretty much any other Regen. Your recharge is going to be limited by budget (high recharge is very expensive), so you may be focusing more on defense than typical, as defense tends to be cheaper. Go with smashing/lethal, then energy/negative. I'd probably target 32.5% smashing/lethal (one purple from normal soft cap). Ideally, have Shadow Meld get you to the incarnate soft cap (59%) on smashing, lethal, energy and negative.
- Go red side to pick up Shadow Meld, then come back to blue side if you like blue side better.

Hey Werner long time no see. Well, what is the best a DB can get up to for DPS? What's the chain and do you have a build for a DB/whatever, I can kind of model on. How do you get a Regen up to high levels of Def?
Regeneration is just not a very good set to begin with. It has a finite damage mitigation that is based on how much healing is coming in. Other forms of defense rely on smaller amount of healing to regain much smaller amounts of damage taken. Those methods cause healing to have a multiplicative effect on survivability instead of a linear one.
Not many people here can offer advice on PvP builds. Try the PvP forums.
For a PvE build, you either need a ton of defense or a ton of recharge so you can use your heals, Moment of Glory, and Shadow Meld more often. The second option gives you better offense but can be extremely expensive. I would suggest that you just make a new character, like Willpower. If that sounds like something you don't want to do, look for regeneration builds and adapt them to fit Dual Blades.

So, do most ppl agree that I should scrap my DB/Regen and go for a DB/WP...for Soloing AV's, or is Regen viable?

DB can get some knockdown to help out, and you get reconstruction, instant healing, MOG and Meld as 'uh oh' buttons. Dull Pain should be perma or darn near, and acts to cap your hitpoints if at all possible, becuz you need as many as you can squeeze in.
It is an extremely active, busy build, since you're basically doing clicks for both your offense and your defense. If you like that sort of thing, a GOOD regen is quite a bit tougher than a GOOD willpower.
And that's saying a LOT.

You have a lot of mid to high ticket items in there (Hamios, purple IOs, PvP IOs, Luck of the Gambler globals). Your defense is minimal. Your recharge is merely so-so (though on a budget, you probably won't get much better). You appear to have chased hit point bonuses, which do you no good much of the time since you have perma Dull Pain and it puts your hit points way over the cap. You're also over the rule of five on 1.874% hit point bonuses. I'm not sure if you chased regeneration bonuses or just picked them up as side effects, but they're not very useful comparatively, and you should be shooting for typed defense instead where possible.
You mentioned DPS earlier, and on your budget, you're going to be stuck with the moderate recharge chain, which you seem to have figured out: Blinding Feint -> Ablating Strike -> Vengeful Slice -> Sweeping Strike. Fortunately, it's a good chain.
I recommend Soul Mastery to get Shadow Meld over Body Mastery for Physical Perfection. The regeneration and recovery from Physical Perfection just aren't all that great for a Regen. On demand huge defense should be more valuable.
You should have at least something in Health or Stamina, even if you decide not to slot them. Physical perfection is weaker than either, so any slots there should likely move to Health or Stamina if they aren't used elsewhere.

Do you have something I can look at for getting defense? Everything I was putting in severly hamppers my DMG output and Recharge.

This is what I'm currently shooting for on my KM/REG. She is currently level 40, so this is more of a long term goal for a build. Has 33% s/l defense and 63.75% global recharge. Pretty sure you could obtain the defense and maybe better recharge with your DB/REG.

Here's the build you posted, Ghost_Ripper, tweaked a bit based on my km/reg's build. I kept all your power picks the same except in the 40-50 range and just redid slots/enhancements.
As to your specific questions about Incarnate slots:
Alpha: Agree with others for Spiritual - go radial if you want to squeeze out a little more tohit from Tactics. Otherwise stick with Core.
Interface: To taste, but if your goal is DPS, then go Reactive Radial.
Judgement: To taste.
Lore: To taste.
Destiny: Either Barrier to cycle with Shadow Meld and MoG or Rebirth to use while IH is recharging (or use before any of your other clickies).

I don't have a typed defense Regen build to show. Here's what I'd run on my Katana/Regen if I brought him up to date, but it won't really be directly applicable. You need to look for typed defense sets, not positional defense sets. Also, the budget on this build is truly insane.

Why Typed? I thought that postional was always what people wanted for defense (*I have been gone awhile). I remeber people used to say how carpy Energy was for a defense set b/c it was all typed. Did something change?

The only things that should be hitting you will be pure exotic attacks, which mostly come from range. There are melee attacks that are pure exotic, too (Incinerate and Mind Probe, for example). Being protected against the majority should be sufficient as /Regen should be able to handle the rest of the damage that makes it through.
Basically, on sets that offer no inherent defense, typed defense is the way to go.

Depending on how long you've been gone, set bonuses used to be for a single type of defense. Now each covers two types of defense plus bleeds into positional defense. That makes slotting for typed defense practical.

Depending on which kind of defense you want, you still want to focus on those sets that give the primary bonus to that defense. After you've exhausted those you can grab some of the other kind if you still need more.

So, do most ppl agree that I should scrap my DB/Regen and go for a DB/WP...for Soloing AV's, or is Regen viable?

IMHO, if it's soloing AVs you want, Shield or even SR might be better.

Guassians is a great set for adding positional defense, but it only grants 1.25% to the types. Recitfied Reticle gives 1.875% s/l defense from 2 slots. I only altered Tactics to add in 2 RRs and 2 Cytos. The extra two slots in Tactics I moved to Boxing and change the slotting to Kinetic Combat. I know it seems like a waste since Boxing isn't a power you'll probably ever use, but the defense it gives puts your a little over 32.5%, which means you can softcap that defense with a Luck. The biggest loss is the BU proc, but I would actually add that to BF, instead of that Mako proc. I've been using the BU proc in Follow Up on my night widow and it fires off more often than I've ever seen with it slotted in Tactics.

I'm late to the party here, but I don't think WP is a good set for soloing AVs. The lowish resistances make for big spike damage from AV attacks and the regeneration is only at its best when you have lots of bodies surrounding you, and it adds no damage or recharge to your attack chain. At least Regen offer consistent mitigation against one opponent or ten+.
IMHO, if it's soloing AVs you want, Shield or even SR might be better. |

Well, any Scrapper is a solid character, so it's not like you're underperforming. I believe that some supergroups occasionally run "everybody get the accolade" teams to speed up the process a bit, but other than that, I can't offer any suggestions.

I've been away since i20 was about to come out. I made it back today, and did the Alpha slot missions. I was wondering, did Regen get another debuff/nerf. Or do I just remeber it being better than it is now? At any rate, I couldn't even solo the EB and had to get help with Trapdoor...lame. So what is the best way to improve a DB/Regen and which Alpha is the best for a regen. I started down the path of Soling AV's with my DB/Regen; however, it got way to grindy feeling to finish and thus have not finished my build. Since that time, I have lost all my builds and do not recall a where to find a good one for soloing AV's or PvP. If anyone is willing to help and Old N--b out, I'd be much appreciative. So, here are the Basics:
1. Have just under 400 mil to work with.
2. Have opended Alpha slot; however, nothing to go in, and don't really have any slavage to build stuff for it either? (What's best way to get the Alpha stuff as well?)
3. What are the best Alpha slots for a DB/Regen?
4. What are the best other slots for a DB/Regen? (Lore, Judgement, etc..)
5. Best build for Soling AV's DB/Regen including the Alpha and other slots?
6. Best build for PvP DB/Regen including the Alpha and other slots?
7. If anyone really wants to take the time, and this is fun for them to do...what would be the Best of the Best build, money is no concern, a middle of the road, and the cheapest w/best results? Also, Is there a way to combine the AV soloing w/a PvP build?
That's it and thanks for your help, I know there are great minds in this community that can and will help, please no flaming and respect others opinions even if you don't agree. Thanks to all.
