Non Stone/* Tank versus */Stone Brute
Brute damage scale = .75
Tanker damage scale = .80
Granite Armor's damage penalty = 30%
Average reliable damage bonus from Fury = 150%
(150% damage bonus from Fury + 90% slotted damage bonus - 30%) * .75 modifier * 100 theoretical damage attack = 157.5 damage
90% slotted damage bonus * .80 modifier * 100 theoretical damage attack = 72 damage
So, yes, Fury beats a Tanker's damage in average conditions, even with Stone Armor. The problem you run into is being able to run a solid attack chain while in Granite Armor. The recharge penalty is 65% and makes it very difficult to achieve perma-Hasten while keeping defenses and movement speed at acceptable levels. A good attack chain could put the Tanker on top again, especially if the Stone Brute has pauses in their attack chain.
Syntax, you've kind of messed up your math there.
Attack damage:
(1 + enhancement+damage buffs)*modifier*theoretical attack
(1+1.5+.9+(-.3))= 3.1*.75*100 = 232.5 damage
(1+.9)*.8*100 = 152 damage
With bruising:
152*1.2= 182.4 damage
To put the example in more concrete terms:
With comparable slotting and set bonuses, a willpower tank will do 320 damage with Seismic Smash (384 with bruising) while a Brute with Granite active and a 150% bonus from Fury will do 470 damage.
Meanwhile, I don't think it's even possible to get Perma-hasten on a Granite Brute and still soft cap defenses. Though, with a really expensive build and Spiritual Core Paragon, you can get hasten down to 128 seconds of recharge while maintaining 45.5% Smashing/Lethal defense, so you can come close.
Note that there's a case where a tank can beat a brute: a Shield/ tank with saturated AAO using Bruising.
(1 + .9 + .55) * .8 * 100 * 1.2 = 235.2
But this is a special case, and saturated AAO like maxed Fury: you don't see it very often.
Hey folks,
Hope all is well.
Based on the title, will the Brute will still out damage Tanks given Stone's penalties? Just curious since I'm not a number cruncher. I'd imagine a few non-Stone Tanks would pull ahead??
Thanks in advance.
