Hey all, I'm returning to the game after a two year hiatus, and am in the process of fixing my characters. I've taken care of my Tank, and am now turning an eye to my Crab.

Looking at my build, its clear that I was just throwing random powers on there and hoping for the best. I'd like to use my respec to focus my crab into something useful. My goal is to make a team oriented, pets-lite/no-pets character. Furthermore, I'm interested in learning what makes the Crab Spider shine. I really didn't ever get a handle on them way back when.

Stygian Variolus has a heavy team support build. Doubled maneuvers, doubled assault, heavy focus on AoE attacks, no melee other than Brawl and a few temporary powers. Of course, she also went blueside before level 40 and thus has no patron pools...not that she needs them since the planned build is softcapped in normal content without accounting for team buffs. Weave, Hover, Combat Jumping and doubled maneuvers alone is damn potent, and adding in IO's you can get even better.

Styg only has a couple of her planned sets and is already softcapped to everything except Psi, and she's only .5% away from that...without Armageddon yet.

It really depends upon what you'd like to do with him...

The great thing about them is there are enough powers that you can go melee or AoE. What level is he? What content do you intend to do?

My current build is AoE with pets near-perma including PPP pet. I essentially have as many pets as a Mastermind, but do 2.5 to 3 times as much damage. I also have all Leadership and Training toggles. My goal is to create a melee build for my 2nd build, but so far I feel like I'm contributing to the iTrials. My current build cost about 500 million inf, but you can be effective for a lot less.

Again, where do you want to go?

I think I'd like to be Support/Ranged. Again, I want as few pets (or none) as possible.

I'm not at all opposed to an expensive IO build. I enjoy chasing down rare stuff.

I made my crab a tank. When I don't need the extra survivability I run as a huntsman. I may or may not further tweak my crab with less gun powers and more crab powers. Depends on which is really better whenever I get around to doing more testing.

You can take a look at my ranged debuff AOE no-pet soft caped build, sounds like what you want.

Are you planing on getting the incarnate stuff?

Here's my current planned build for Stygian. I only went for two purple sets anyways, and I'm sure that others could improve upon what I've done here. Only have Call Reinforcements, and even then only for assistance when they're needed. I don't have them out all the time.

Those builds are going to give me a lot to ponder. Thanks for sharing them.

Yes, I do plan to go after the Incarnate stuff, though I'll probably be less vigorous than I was with my tank, and worry less about getting t4 in anything other than Cardiac.
