Dominators and Lore Pets?

Morning all!

I am wondering what Lore Pets would match a Mind/Psi/Fire and an Earth/Ice/Ice?

I was thinking of the Polar Lights for the Mind/Psi/Fire for the nice -Def but I am not sure about my Earth/Ice/Ice...any suggestions?

( I dont want robots or anything from Praetoria )

My mind/psy is going with phantoms- these are illusion decoys with the reflections aura. They seem ghost-like, which works for my theme, and matches the look to the aura they sport. Fun fact- the boost the support pet gives is adrenalin boost.

Note: polar lights are the veteran wisps, and the bosses are a brilliant red. The support set gives you assault.

The couple "super" buffs I saw on the pets on test (AB, for example) seemed kinda lame in that they only go off once and don't last the duration of the pet (like the lesser buffs do). I can't seem to find my post from the beta boards with all the durations & recharges... but my general impression was that I would avoid all those support pets.

Most dominators are so self-sufficient that the pets don't patch up any major weakness, compared to a controller, for example, who may really desire the mez protection from the Nemesis support pet. Of course, they may take Clarion to solve that problem as well. So, I suppose, the long answer is that the pet to take varies on from build to build.

On my plant/psi, I'm taking Polar Lights for extra assault and on my earth/fire I'll be taking the Storm Elementals to debuff things outside my Earthquake.

I'll be matching my pets to my characters' themes and not worrying if their powers enhance the character's or fill holes.


Please buff Ice Control.

Simply having a pet fills a hole in my Mind/Psi/Mental. I decided to stick with the theme and go for Carnies.

I used my superior mind powers to simultaneously break them free from Mother Mayhem and enslave them for myself. I keep the best looking one for special, personal use...

Baring lurid thoughts and all, I'd tend to agree that Seers are very useful. Their psy damage is one of the least resisted in the game, they fly, and the buff from the support pet gives you extra damage, to hit and defense for 30s - and recharges in just that, so it's borderline perma.

I've also been looking at Clockworks for the Keyes Trial. The healing they give is HoT (healing over time) but ends up almost 50% stronger than the others from what I saw, which can be nice against the pulses. And their FF generator never goes out of style. Energy damage is often resisted in the game though.

If the Mind link buff from the fortunata recharged as fast though, I'd have been sorely tempted by the Arachnos. The toxic damage from the Tarentula is as rarely resisted as psy.

Carnies have a nice psy/dark/smashing mix and the buff boosts damage and accuracy for a whooping minute, but does nothing for mitigation beyond healing.

Polar Lights have a very nice amount of -DEF, but bring only some healing and assault to the table. I'd get as much +DAM with the seers.

Ghost might be tempting to some (who doesn't like Adrenaline Boost?) but look at its recharge : the toon will get to shoot it once, MAYBE two, in its whole 5 minutes of existence. No thanks.

I haven't been looking in as much details at the other pets, but I admit I skipped right over those with pure healing support (like the Cimerorans) or a mez resist (like the battle orbs - mez resist is why I have permadom in the first place)

It's a good start, but one thing it doesn't cover are the recharge rates of the powers. As said, it makes the phantom support pet... disapointing, I feel.

Yeah, I was looking to take the phantoms, but the recharge on the support pet powers didn't work for me. I like the perma Fortitude of the Seers for the damage and defense. Like the OP, I don't necessarily like the Praetorian mobs, but what the hey.

This was exactly why I went clockworks in the first place, they have the best heal. Keep in mind that their AI works just like Mu Guradian. They will heal you or your pets. I found more times than not that my Gremlins would get the heal instead of me because they usually take more damage. I'm not sure how the AI works but they must do a check of some type and heal the one member that has taken the most damage. Just something to think about before investing the time in getting the support branch. If your a Mind Dom then great but if you have pets especially more than one, Fire, Electric, the heal is often used on them and not on the player.
