invul or shield? Hmmm

SO a while ago i posted a build for an ice/ice/leviathan tanker and then i kinda changed my mind.....i like ice armour i just hate how it looks. Way to bulky etc. So now i am torn between invul/ice/levi and shield/ice/levi.

Here is the Shield/ice/levi build...

I have never played a tanker with either of these power sets before so i am not sure what fall backs they have etc.
My main concern with Invul is the amount of toggles it uses in comparison to shield, but then i am capped S/L def and res so i guess it is worth it.
The reason i chose shield was for 'shield charge' and 'all against one' which helps up the dmg quota. Ideally id love this to be a brute but no ice =/.

I am also not sure which is better to have S/L capped or M/R/A capped.

So ye, advice, tips etc.
Thank you.

P.S. invul/shield/ice/levi are the power options, maybe WP if someone can back it up with some good facts. So please dont suggest other power sets because its pointless.

I actually just started up a Shield/Ice, myself, so I say go that way!

Maybe you should post the build instead of the chunk so people without Mids can look at it.

Invuln is tougher, and with mitigation from Ice will be very tough indeed. But Shield is plenty tough and will do lots more damage. If you are pining for a Brute, I'd say that tips it toward Shield.

Bonus: look through the shield customizations, there's a lot you can do to get a look you like. Juts off the top of my head, you could put the snowflake pattern on a regular shield of various shapes, or use the Ice elemental shield.

Both are great picks really.

SD is easier to softcap (Positional) has an AoE attack and a damage boosting power. On top of that Grant Cover will make you beloved by nearby teammates. Always remember though that Deflection isn't just Melee defense, it also houses your S/L Resistance. If you can spare the slots, tossing in some res IOs there would help your survivability out.

Inv is also softcappab;e (S/L/E/N/F/C) but it's much harder. It would be more practical to aim for just S/L/E/N. You can hardcap S/L resistance if you take tough and your other non-psi resistances aren't bad either. Not outstanding, but not bad. All in all a well built Inv is very, VERY hard to kill.

Here is the shield build.

Ive seen a Shield Defence / Super Strength tanker in action and that was a little beast. The damage output was nothing short of extreme, and his resistances gave my Invul / SS a run for his money. Between rage and against all odds, he was far outstripping me in damage, and my Invul / SS hits hard when rage is going.

I do think that Invul / gives you one benefit in as much as the smashing and lethal elements are huge, so softcapping them all the way to 45% while doable is ultimately to my mind dubious, because if you can find a way to tie in some additional regeneration into the build, you can take the damage anyway as you have 90% capped s/l resistance, and what damage you do take you can heal through anyway. Besides you always should carry a few lucks IMO. ;-)

as the other resistances in Invul are a bit on the low side, getting more defence for them is probably a more worthwhile pursuit. Im in a minority more than likely for my thinking that softcapping s/l is not mandatory on an invul tank. So perhaps not best to listen to me just yet till I get more proof.

I found that you can color Ice Armor using custom colors so that it's nearly invisible. I changed mine to be dark blue and it doesn't look bulky at all -- you can barely see it.
