Please add reward timers as trackable options in the attribute monitor
Just one little nitpick:
Creating a UI to list them inside the attribute monitor is a couple of hours worth of work, but that's what developers are paid to do. |
I do have to wonder though... why not just take the merits and be done with it? Especially once you were almost finished the next TF and the timer still wasn't up, just wasting a reward like that seems silly to me.
As for the suggestion itself, I think it's a good idea and I could see myself getting some use out of it.

Have you seen the game code for CoH? Are you a programmer? If you can't answer yes to both of those, you can't reasonably make such statements about how long something will take. I'm not saying it absolutely wouldn't be that easy, but you can't just throw something like that out there with no supporting evidence or experience and expect it to be taken seriously.

The whole point of my short answer was to not turn this into a CS lecture thread about how you're wrong.
I'm going to guess you want to mess up the thread over something that you thought you could harp on for some false sense of superiority.
What Sharker is referring to is called the Standard Code Rant on these boards. You may be a good programmer, but for all we know CoH is written in uncomment spaghetti code and the section that this would have to be added to was done by someone no longer with Paragon Studios. Unless of course you've SEEN the code for CoH you have no more idea than I do how difficult it would be to add this feature anywhere, let alone where you suggest it. Now please, let's let this drop so the thread does NOT get derailed.
I have no desire to derail this thread either. I think this is an excellent idea and I would love to see it implemented. I think you have suggested it in the most logical place. Indeed, I hope this is easy to do and we see it in the next couple of issues.
Check out the Repeat Offenders network of SGs! You'll be glad you did.
Forgive the "definitions" in the first part. Based on my interactions with game masters in this game I have learned not to assume everyone knows what you're talking about when you start tossing initializations and acronyms around.
I came off of a Task Force(TF) run earlier this evening that began with an Statesman Task Force(STF). Unfortunately I couldn't get the random Hamidon Origin enhancement(HO) roll yet because of the 24 hour timer, I wasn't going to play another character, and we were moving on to do other TFs.
I left the reward table up as we did the next TF, and as it happens to turn out one reward table will overwrite another reward table meaning I ended up not getting anything from the STF when we finished the following TF. I also thought I had already passed the 24 hour timer limit, and I am not too put off by the loss of the reward. If I had access to knowing the specific time for which I would have become eligible for the HO, then I may have made a wiser decision. In my mind the HO reward was going to become available at any moment.
The information concerning rewards is already being tracked by the server. Creating a UI to list them inside the attribute monitor is a couple of hours worth of work, but that's what developers are paid to do. It would be immensely helpful to be able to track, specifically, rewards which access is blocked via the TF/Raid/Trial timer like the HO.
Others may appreciate being able to track when they are again eligible for full merit rewards on a TF or when they are eligible for the next Empyrean Merit from a Trial, or even when they are eligible for the next 10/10 Incarnate Shard to Incarnate Thread conversion. This can't be the first time something like this has been suggested, but I hope that developers will consider this for a quality of life improvement for Issue 21.
