Ice Armor for Scrappers?
I hadn't given much thought to Ice Melee, but if I could play around with that I'd definitely make an Ice Melee/Shield Defense Scrapper. I think I'd try and set up a build that does Ice Sword>Freezing Touch>Ice Sword>Greater Ice Sword for an attack chain.

Even though you can fully recover with Hibernate, I still consider it a crash whenever the power is used. Whether it be Dark Star, Inferno, or Hibernate - whatever prevents me from attacking after I use it is something that I avoid. At least with a nuke or something like Unstoppable you can time a use of an Endurance Inspiration/Ageless Destiny to get back in the fight right away. Hibernate is a self Hold.
Hoo boy, I remember when nukes and T9's like Unstoppable would have a long-duration stun along with the crash too. So glad that excessive component was removed. |
So any Ice Armor port to scrappers will have a new tier 9.

If scrappers got Ice Armor, they wouldn't be getting Hibernate in it. It's in Leviathan Mastery and the devs A) aren't going to let use take it twice, and B) aren't going to take it away from people who already have it.

I don't care much for Ice Armor as a set, but I'd love to see Ice Melee come to Scrappers (and Brutes/Stalkers, the more the merrier!). I love the theme of the set but its lack of any real damage turns me off from it. I think it'll be fun on a Scrapper, though.
I might try Ice Armor out too, just to keep the theme. The cryogenic/snow auras look really nice and make the odd ice block chunks covering you not look so weird.
And Stalkers too, they get Hibernate in Leviathan Mastery as well. What that new power would be, who knows? The Ice Revive is the only one I can think of that would probably require the least work to implement, because it's already in from the Winter Event as a temp power.

What I am concerned about is that power proliferation has dropped so far off the radar of the newer devs that he would have to jot that down in his notes.

I wouldn't mind it though! What would they rename ours to be, if at all? Frost Mastery? Tanker Pyre Mastery changed to Blaze Mastery for us.

Before your character can get up from the ground, they have to go through a Snow Angel making animation.

So now that we know that Hibernate for Stalkers has been replaced with Icy Bastion, do you think they would do the same thing with Scrapper Ice Armor?

Ice Armor will be coming to Scrappers, but not in Power Proliferation 3.0.
I'm really happy with the change to the Tier 9. I'd rather have that than the one Tanks (and possibly Brutes) get. Argh! I can't wait to play a Spines/Ice Scrapper!

I like choice. Now you've got the choice of Hibernate or Icy Bastion. Or both.

I don't frequent the Tanker boards or play them much, but why would a Tanker use Hibernate? You can't do anything while that's up, right? I guess if you slot it up you'd only need five or ten seconds in there, and probably wouldn't lose much aggro in that time. Is that considered acceptable? I really think I'd want to manage my healing and endurance in some way that didn't require me to take myself out of the fight, but I guess I can see the appeal. Low hit points and out of endurance, click, five or ten seconds later you're perfect. And as far as keeping aggro, Hibernate is probably better than dying.

I've seen it done pretty well against multiple AVs, so i know it works. Its just tricky to pull off. You can maintain hibernate for a good 10 seconds before you'll start to lose aggro. Even more time if your Auras tick at about the same time as you taunt. Chilling Embrace and Icicles back some pretty hefty passive taunt numbers
Actually now that I open Ice Melee for Tankers in Mids, that would be more fun than I realized.
Originally I was just on the boat of "more options please", but I might actually have to get behind this. I would play an Ice/Shield just to have another option besides Fire/Shield for amazingly amazing Scrapper. And while you're at it, give us some Ice Mastery. It could be similar to Leviathan but switch out Waterspout and Summon Guardian for Sleet and Ice Storm! (ok, did I just get too carried away there?)
