Crab Build Advice

I have recently returned to the game, and found I could play as a VEAT. So I've been doing research and playing a Crab SoA... and loving it.

I got lucky and got a purple recipie during a Praetoria invasion, which I was able to sell for about 350 million (after a loan to cover the posting price lol). So I have a decent amount of infamy, but I'm far from rich.

Anyway. I was hoping for some advice on this build... some of the more expensive pieces (Luck of the Gambler recharge thingie, miracle +endurance) I plan on trying to get with Villain Merits, as I don't have the infamy to buy them. Everything else seems generally within my price range.

Anyway! Sorry for the novel, but any advice would be most welcome. Hopefully I don't screw up this export...

I also have a question about the chance for damage proc abilities. Do they only have a chance to proc off of an activation? or doing damage? I put Touch of Lady Grey in my Longfang ability (the proc one) and it only ever seems to proc off the first tic of the power. For some reason I thought it would proc off any tic. IF it's only off the activation, I guess it's not going to be as cool as I thought it would be.

Procs are a chance when they hit the target. DoTs only officially "hit" on the first tick (even ones like Hail of Bullets where not every tick might apply).

There's special cases for toggles and "patch" type powers, where it's every 10 seconds (starting from when you first activate the power for patches, not so sure about toggles).


So yeah, Longfang will just get a chance on the first tick of damage, not every one.

I went over your build and found quite a bit I could move about. Things to remember in a pet based build, you really don't used channelgun and longfang that much. So you can stack those for good io's. You also way over slotted def for just the 5% increase so I moved those around and used the extra spaces to cap your def and give you some extra rechg with much fewer slots.

You had one slot in Omega Maneuever, so I assume it was just a "this is cool" power. I therefore did not slot it for damage with extra slots, but used it as an io mule for bonuses and a 7.5% rechg increase.

The last thing I changed was the health io, miracle is running more than LOTG right now, about 190mil per. Numina's is much cheaper (60-80m) and still gives close to the same boost.

In any case, this build will let you hover at range or get in close and pull some aggro from your pets. I hope it helps you.

I disagree, especially on the Trials. Yes, you can mostly rely on your pets and AoEs in normal content but in the long AV fights for the trials you really want some decent single target attacks. Your pets will go squish pretty quickly (since you can't order them out of AoE range) and cycling your AoEs against an AV is less efficient in terms of DPS (not to mention using more endurance).

I'd also disagree about slotting a taunt set in Omega Maneuver. If you're going to use it you really want it doing damage, the taunt effect is small and fleeting so damage is the way to go.

Thank you for the advice! After getting to level 50 and playing around with some of these powers I ended up deciding I didn't particularly care for the pet powers so much. Especially since I read that in the Incarnate stuff they tend to die fairly easily.

For my little group of friends I tend to be our 'tank' (Myself, an Ice/Storm Controller, and a Fire/Rad Corruptor) so I've always focused first on capping my defenses. So the below build is me completly capping my defense to all 3 positions plus extra for wiggle room.

While I am able to get some of the pricier recipies now (yay for purple recipie drops!) I still can't afford any full purple sets on my own by a longshot. I just started on my incarnate stuff and think I'll be using one of two alpha slots: When I can't play with my Fire/Rad corr partner for AM, use the Cardiac to help my endurance issues. When she is there, I"ll use a version of the Nerve Radial alpha for the extra accuracy and more importantly the extra defense.

It looks ok, and is somewhat similar to what I ended up with after finding how fast pets died in incarnate trials. Non-controllable pets just get eaten so fast

Anyway, here is my current build if you want to cannibalize it. For singles I use Channelgun/Longfang/Arm Lash. For AoE I use Venom Grenade/Arctic Breath/Bile Spray/Suppression/Frag Grenade. That way Bile gets a huge -res debuff from Venom/Arctic.

For Alpha, Cardiac, or Musculature, Nerve is just extra Defense you don't need past the cap.

I suggest Ageless, Reactive, Pyro, and Warworks. That is what I am running currently, seems quite good.
