new def softcap
Only on I-Trials. The rest of the game hasn't changed.
However, certain enemies still have To-Hit buffs outside of the I-Trials.

I usually softcap ranged def on my blasters/trollers. What baddies slice through this? The Romans and Rikti right?
And +def does not help against mezzes right?

Romans apply -Def, which if you don't have Defense Debuff Resistance, will lower you down quite quickly.

Rikti drones and Rularuu eyeballs have +ToHit buffs, which negate an equal amount of +Def.
Devouring Earth Quartzs drop eminators that increase the DE's ToHit a lot, which can hurt a bit.
Vanguard probably have a decent amount of -Def floating around, too.
Edit -> +Def does help against Mez, but only if you block the attack the Mez was attached to.

If you're running anything with the new Praetorian critters in it - which includes Imperial Defense Forces, Clockworks, Warworks, Seers and the Devoured Earth that appear in tip missions - then you are far more likely to run into +ToHit than you were in the past. The DE always had Quartz eminators with +ToHit, but now some have a personal ToHit buff as well. Most of the IDF not only has something that grants +ToHit (Seer Fortitude/Tactics and the Battle Orbs) but -Def as well, and some Clockwork have a power that actually causes you to attack yourself and anyone near you. Seers in particular are murder, as all of the minions have either stackable +ToHit (Seekers have weaker versions of Fortitude and Tactics) or nasty -Def (Scryers).

I think pets summoned by critters generally get an effective +25% ToHit. Malta auto-turrets certainly do. Critters that aren't pets - such as those Rikti Comm Off summon - don't get this, just pet class critters summoned by other critters.

It varies a bit, all of the ones that match a pet from a player set (primarily Malta Gun Drones and Carny Phantasm and Dark Servant) are definitely 75% though.
FYI, pets and turrets have base 75% chance tohit. "Turret" is actually a class of critter (actually, a set of classes). They aren't "pets" per se. The turrets in the base in Striga, for example, are all minion, LT, and Boss-ranked turrets, and should have base 75% chance to hit.

I wasn't actually speaking of an official class of critter when I wrote "pet class" (hence the lack of capitalization) as I couldn't remember what entities such as the Gun Drone or the Phantasm were labeled.

Some of the critters I wondered about were Desdemona's demons, Infernal's Imps, Blade Prince flying ice swords and IDF Orbs. Do you know which of those, if any, might have the 75% Base instead of the usual 50%?

I think Desdemona's pets are standard critters with standard tohit. I'm pretty sure the Blade Prince's dancing swords are pet class critters with 75% chance to hit. I'm not sure about Infernal's imps. I believe IDF Orbs are minions with 50% tohit except in the trials, where they have the same 64% base tohit as most Praetorian foes in the trials.

Thanks. It was really just curiosity on my part. I recently fought a Blade Prince with my Energy Aura Brute and thought those swords seemed pesky. The rest were just critters that came to mind when I posted earlier in the thread.

Does this just apply to itrials or everywhere? Seems like all my sofcapped toons are getting killed way more playing regular content.
