Lore Power Advice needed

Ok I unlocked Lore and put in a 3rd Tier IDF in it.
Ok I get the level shift only occurs in specific trials

-I wasn't too impressed with the IDF Ranger and Battle Orb combo, underwealming really compared to say the Patron Pets( although the other incarnate powers all seem great)

So is it the tier 4's that the Lore Pets become decent? Or is it just that the IDF Pets are poor?

Also I am a little unsure of the differences in the two tier 4's that each Lore pet has.

From a multitude of posts I have gathered the following (possibly subjective) information ...

Warwarks: Best single target damage.
Clockwork: Best AoE damage.
Seers: Least resisted damage type - Psi.
IDF: Meh.

The orbs do not give a constant buff. Their toggles go on and off and on again, so the protection they offer is not consistent.

The heals from the various pets are nice to keep you fighting a bit longer but nothing that will save you from imminent death.

Hope this helps =)

Just to tag on the last post, the seers are best for buffing (fortitude) and control as well.

The battle orb, in my experience doesn't toggle defenses, it uses it's field projector (a click forcefield) much in the same way the protector bots of the robots MM do. It is reasonably reliable if you don't surround it with alliest (to field instead of you) and can stack up one extra for brief periods of time.

I feel like the clockwork mender is the only pet that cares about healing me, but that may just be because the orbs heal is less noticeable without the ticking heal attached.

This is a common misconception, the reality is that while players frequently have little or no resistance to Psi NPCs quite frequently resist it. The majority of non-sentient NPCs (robots, zombies etc.) resist it as do most psychic NPCs. I did some checking on the old NPC resistance chart and my general conclusion was that Psi is more heavily resisted than the elemental damage types.

The advantage of Seers in terms of offense is that they provide moderate control along with their damage (the boss has a hold and a strong knockup, the Lt has a chance to hold).

Well the battle Orb is a support pet, if you looking for damage go with the 2 IDF if you want to focus on damage, alot of people don't no this but some of pets, depend which tree you go with will end up buffing you and they don't attack your target. So you got an option of two attack Pet and I think two Support or one support and one Attack. Maybe the battle orb isn't for you or the IDF, try another pet group out.

I ended up switching to the Seers tier 3, and a big improvement over the IDF if for no other reason, one of the seers does seem to do a good job with fortitude, other better in other respects.

I plan to just get the Seers Total Radial Improved Ally (the tier 3 with the invulnerable buff pet) and stop there on my Blaster. I don't expect to keep any targetable pets alive long enough to really worry about them so I just want that Fortitude buff and incarnate shift.

If I get around to getting Lore on my Bots/Traps MM I almost have to go Clockwork. More ranged - heavy robots to add to my collection? Yes please...

(The Warworks boss is supposed to be really nasty, but she's melee so that would split up the robot horde too much.)

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

Ive got the t4 IDF core(both damage dealers) on my dom just to diversify my damage types(plant/psi/fire) and because the npc versions of those guys usually tear me up if uncontrolled. I'm usually in melee/cone range and have mobs locked down normally so they are safer, plus I use the +hp rebirth.

My defender(cold/dark/mace) has one of the seers radial t3 for the mini-fortitude and the little bit of psi damage to use versus marauder, outside of that fight they are useless imo. I cant remember a time they have healed me and I think its less than what a respite does anyway, i may go for warworks core t4 if i get lucky on drops but im currently just saving up for i20.5 in case something better comes out or if reactive gets nerfed.

I dont think i'll ever use the clocks even if they were the best, I just think they look really stupid and I never played far enough into praetoria to care about them one way or another.

Tier 4 Core pets gain +25% damage, and I believe become slightly sturdier (more of a scrapper/blaster take to this : if the enemy is dead, he can't hurt me.)

Tier 4 Radial Pets gain the Boss pet (so slightly more damage) and an untargettable buff pet, which will not die and of course will buff you for the full 5 minutes.

Battle Orbs have a toggle +defense , which sadly they turn off and on. Roleplay it as the machinery isn't perfect yet, and the forcefield requires too much energy to keep up, resulting in shutting down because of over-heating .. or not, up to you (;
-and a heal/mez recovery

Seekers give fortitude.
-and a heal/mez

I don't remember what the other pet is called, but it also gives some form of +def and a heal/mez

IDF are awesome pets, people just provide hate because they wish to be that uber guy who can solo things really quick. Yes they are energy melee, and yes that is resisted. But I don't believe the other pets have a [Whirling Hands] that hits 16 targets, or do they self-buff to 80% +damage (I haven't made other Lore pets yet, although with my 220 threads, and 180 astrals I probably could.)

Really, pick what suits your character.

Readeds that you picked Seers and are liking them, glad to hear it!
