2 Handed Option for Mace, Axe and Broadsword

As it says in the title. A much bigger version of those weapons that requires 2 hands, Just like the Stone Mallet from Stone Melee. Just a suggestion that should have been added a long time ago.

Main characters:
Shalite - Ninjas/Poison Villain Mastermind. Solo challenger in PvE.
The Gore Melody - Necro/Dark Vigilante Mastermind. Solo challenger in PvE.
Technophile Lila - SJ/Fire Hero Brute. Outstanding Farmer.

Problems with this:

1. It would mean changing the base stance for the powers (specifically it would change from "Right Handed Weapon" to "Two Handed Weapon") which may or may not be possible possible even with power customization (all existing alternate animations keep the same stance).

2. It would need new animations for all of the powers (including the variants for different body types and flying).

It's a nice change but in terms of animation-team effort it's probably almost as much work as a whole new powerset.

Expanding on 2) for a second: it would require 6 new animations for each powerset. Basically, you'd be creating the animations for 3 new sets, without getting new sets out of it.

It would also make Shield Defense impossible to use with a set that you can currently use it with.

I don't know if it is possible to flag a set to be usable with one set of animations but not another set. As far as I'm aware it is either A) you can use these sets together, or B) you cannot use these sets together. I don't know of any "you can use these sets together, but only if you use this set of animations for set A."

Doesn't SD have special animations for powers like Hurl and Brawl?

Yes, but that has nothing to do with weapon models, which would affect this.

Kinda confused here. What do weapon models have to do with it? I thought the main problem was the amount of new tailor-made animations this would require?

Well, currently, there are no animations that use 2-hands...at least not properly. What you see in Katana and Stone Melee is a sort of 'trick' which requests the character hand to be placed on a point and that point so happens to be where the weapon is drawn but the 2nd hand is never attached because there is no 'node' to attach to.

If we were ever to get 2-handed weapon animations, I suppose they could use that trick if we're specifically talking about just Axe, Mace and Broadsword but the animations would be limited.

Heck, Stone melee only has 2 mallet double handed animations and you're talking about a whole set here.

But I think it's still 'do-able' since Mace, Axe and BS have nearly identical animations. However, those sets already have so many customization options. They have lots more weapon cust than Claws or Katana *AND* they can combine that with a shield.

I'd honestly rather look into customizations for SD to better allow its use with Claws, Spines and Katana (and Dual Blades) *first* before looking at more options for the 3 mentioned sets.

So be it! I'd rather they make whole new sets anyway! Brutal Blade for Brutes, Staff for Scrappers, Warhammer for Tankers and Scythe for Stalkers ^_^

I don't think this would be a waste of man-hours at all. Once you've animated a 2-handed mace, you can continue to use those same animations for the 2-handed axe, the 2-handed broadsword, and even future powers that have yet to be implemented.

Temporary Power: Street Sign, anyone? Staff Melee? With a pool of several 2-handed animations to draw from, these will be a snap to implement.

It's going to be too much work to change/add animations but I agree that Mace feels better with two-hands.

Maybe we'll see a true two-handed weapon set that features "extra reach" at the expense of slower animation (Spear, Pole-arm, 2H Mace, 2H Axe).

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
