Flypose + Autorun?

Hey there, this is a keybind question.

After spending an hour fiddling in-game and searching the forums, I haven't seen/come up with a solution. What I'd like to do is change the autorun bind on "r" to also execute a flypose. The closest I have come is this:

/bind r "emote flypose3 $$ ++forward"

I'll have Fly active, tap r, and start moving forward, but with no flypose. When I tap r again, I stop moving forward, but I do a stationary flypose for a second, then return to the idle position.

If this is possible, would anyone mind posting a bind solution? I'm sure I'll be doing a nice big "/e facepalm" when I see what it is.

Can't help you with the auto run bind, as I never even thought about binding it for flyposes.

What I do is create a Macro called fly and set it with the 2 or 3 poses I want for that toon. Then I just click it to 'assume the position' while I'm flying.

Once I realized I could bind fly to the side button on my mouse I was able to free up that powertray spot and now my Macro always goes there.

(as an aside; I love being able to click the back button on my mouse to use respites!! Such a time/life saver.)

Here's what I use:

/bind P "autorun 1$$e flypose3"

I think it's more like (for yours): Hit R once and Flypose3 toggles (ON, in this case, since it's already off) . The next command is ++ forward, so it toggles (on in this case, since it's already off), which [i dunno why] toggles off Flypose3. I think Flypose and ++forward (since they are both toggles) are mutually exclusive. Then, the second time you hit R, Flypose3 executes. The next command is ++forward. But it's already on, so it turns it back off.

However, on mine, I hit P once and autorun is forced to 1. This is not the same as the one you use! Yours is a toggle, mine sets autorun to true. The next command is Flypose3, so it toggles on.

Edit: this will require you to bind another key to the "autorun 0" command. I use:

/Bind J "autorun 0$$Powexec_toggleOFF Fly"

GATE-keeper: I think I understand what you mean. In other words, there seems to be no way to make autorun and a flypose activate with a single keystroke while maintaining the ability to toggle off autorun with another stroke of the same key. I'll give it a shot, thanks!

And if anyone else has any alternate solutions, I'd love to hear 'em.

You can make it use one key by using GATE's bind with an added bindloadfile added onto each.
Save some bind files. AutoPoseOn.txt and AutoPoseOff.txt in your data directory of CoH.

AutoPoseOn.txt:
R "autorun 1$$e flypose 3$$bindloadfile AutoPoseOff.txt"

AutoPoseOff.txt:
R "autorun 0$$bindloadfile AutoPoseOn.txt"

Then, in-game, do /bindloadfile AutoPoseOn.txt

That'll make it so that the first time you hit R, it will turn autorun on, set the flypose and rebind R to do what's in AutoPoseOff.txt. Then, when you hit it again, it will turn off autorun and rebind R to do what's in AutoPoseOn.txt again.

Well, that's how it should work. I haven't tested GATE's binds, but if his binds work, then adding the bindloadfiles onto them will work. This same method can also be used to have rotating chat binds, where you press one key to say something and load another bind, and keep pressing it to go through the rotation. Just have to be sure that the last one will load the first one and it'll all work. In the case of the simple on/off thing, you just have two so they just reference each other.

I think the easiest way to explain this is the fact that you have the emote before you started moving forward.

Try this:
/bind r "++forward$$emote flypose3"

The biggest problem with the flyposes (which makes their use that much harder with binds) is that they'll only work correctly AFTER you've started autorun in flight. This does not always work even with Master-Blade's example. And trying to use the multi-file approach eventually leads to bind timing problems if you ever encounter game lag.

I simply avoid all the timing problems by having a dedicated flypose bind separate from my toggle for auto run. The following works pretty well for me:
z "emote flypose1$$emote flypose2$$emote flypose3$$emote flypose4"

This has the added advantage that after I'm flying with autorun I can hit 'z' as many times as I want and it will cycle through the 4 flyposes so I can quickly choose any of them I want to use at any given time. I realize the idea of pressing a second button for this seems strange, but I can tell you I've been doing it for years and it's become such a habit that I don't even think about it anymore.

Good luck regardless.

Thanks for the help all. I ended up binding GATE-keeper's idea to 'v' and it works well since I just have to tap the same key twice. Whenever I want to stop, s or w will do it, so it all works out well.

Whatever works for you. I actually like all of the flyposes so I hated getting locked into just using one of them. With my bind I can use any flypose I want at anytime, or even not use -any- of them (because my autorun is not hardwired to a flypose) which effectively gives me 5 poses to choose from. As always YMMV.
