Marvel Visionaries TPBs
I really enjoyed most of Peter David's run on the Hulk, and John Byrne's run on FF was some of his best work, as well as some of the best FF stories, IMO. That said, I don't know if either can truely go toe-to-toe with what Simonson did on Thor.

I still believe Simonson's run on Thor is the greatest ever from a creative standpoint.
I guess I'm more curious as to the quality of the books themselves. Are they printed on crummy paper? Do they fall apart? Etc.
Some of the older Marvel Masterworks editions, for example, are kind of shoddy in quality, which is unfortunate. And don't even get me started on the DC Showcase line of books.
The Thor Omnibus isn't quite on par in quality with the DC Absolute Editions, for example, but it's far better than most other collected materials.
Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!
Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.
No idea on the physical quality of the books. These are all runs I bought month-by-month as they were released, so I never even looked at the collected editions.

The books are nice, but nowhere near Omni nice. My main problem is that you need to buy a ton of them to get the complete run that you want. I 'think' they cover 8 issues a book.
That said, you might check your local comic shop and see if they have any on sale. I know that NEC around Boston have a ton of them at 50% off. Including the Simonson FF run....
EDIT: The Omni books are often recolored - I doubt the Visionary books are....

I was curious if anyone had purchased any of the Marvel Visionaries TPBs in the past, and if they could tell me if they're of sufficient quality to warrant a purchase. I realize they are softcover books (I'm okay with this) but I don't recall seeing any of them in a bookstore before. It looks like they've published them for Simonson's runs on Thor and Fantastic Four, Peter David's work on Hulk, Byrne's work on Fantastic Four, and a few others.
With the enjoyment I'm getting out of the Thor Omnibus, I thought it might be time to look into these books.
Thanks!
