Using a H50 on my system atm, I like it, nice and quiet. I did however find out that using a waterblock on your processor, takes away the air cooling process of having a fan blowing down onto the motherboard. I added a spot fan, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835209017 to help cool the MB and it works well.
With the weather warming up, (didn't see your ambients), the lack of cooling onto the MB maybe causing a heat related issue for sure.
Head over to, http://www.overclock.net/water-cooling/ and see what you can find out from those guys if you hadn't already. You'll be able to get alot more info I think.
Currently the temps are low cause I just started up but maybe I can get back on in a little bit and update that. Surprised the VREG is at 50 already though... Not that I know what VREG is...
The Motherboard is as follows:
THRM: 22 c
CPU: 22 c
VREG: 50 c
System 33 c
Processor Avg. of the 4 cores:
38 c
GFx cards:
both 35 c
I also forgot to add that I am running 2 WD Velociraptors in RAID 0 for performance but I was told they can get hot as well and thats managed by a dedicated chip on my motherboard.

Gaah...I really wish they would stop selling these various "kits" for water-cooling. Yes they allow beginners to get into the wc-scene, but they also often end up stagnating the learning curve for those folks.
Where to begin?
First, the "reserator" series is a passive system. It isn't a "normal" water-cooling radiator, and it doesn't have an active fan system blowing air across it for efficient heat exchange.
So, you don't have nearly enough heat exchange with that thing to handle what you've put on it. -- It's OK (for heat at least, there's a lot of other issues with them) on a CPU only loop, but not for a CPU + SLI GPU loop.
Second, it's made of ALUMINUM. Go read up at some of the dedicated water-cooling forums about mixing AL and Copper in the wetted sections of a loop (it's called galvanic corrosion and it will mess your system up). You can get away with mixed metals if you use an anti-corrosion additive, but you're just slowing down the problem, not preventing it.
Trouble is, most new water-cooler's (the people that is) tend to come from air-cooling with a "set it up and forget about it" type attitude. How long has it been since you've flushed and cleaned your setup? Bet it's been a while....and that corrosion is going to build up over time.
OK. Rant Off...
Now as to your "other heatsinks" getting hot and the apparent overheating your getting on the motherboard. When you go with a water-cooled rig, air flow to the rest of the system (motherboard, ram, hard drives, etc) often ends up taking an unintentional hit.
It really sounds like you aren't getting enough air flow over the motherboard heat sinks (north bridge, south bridge, vregs (mosfets), and probably ram as well).
First thing I'd do is get some extra air-flow (either in general over the entire motherboard, or some spot fans) in the case and see if that helps the overheat problems.
[After that, if you're enjoying the water-cooling hobby, go and do some reading at some of the dedicated forums...there's lots of info out there].
By the way VREGS are the voltage regulators (either on the motherboard - often also called MOSFETS, or on the graphics cards - they have thier own vregs). VREGS tend to get quite hot, but they are also designed to handle that heat. You still want a good heat-sink and air flow over them of course.

Hello, my name is Soulwind and I have Alt-Itis.
Soulwind pretty much said it all. Need a bigger/better radiator. For an SLI + CPU loop you may even need a 360mm rad if it'll fit somewhere in your case. Then you can slap a few silent 120mm fans on it (I like Fractal Designs fans). Get a fan controller and set them to half speed.
I've never tried doing a water cooling set-up like that before, so maybe I'm overestimating what you need.

I bought the reserator with intent to tweak and expand. It does have a fan though, a fairly large one to boot. It just isn't sold with it. It hooks into the cpu fan power supply and runs along the hosing. I've also just recently flushed the system hence the addition of the new GPU Plates. I also know about the additives and I've taken care of it. As far as it being Passive I've done my homework beforehand as it was a pricey system and it was never intended to be primarily the main cooler but I did think the fan would help I just didn't intend CoX to be as intensive to GFx (since at the time of purchase Going rogue was only just a thought) to not be enough from the huge supply of water that it offers. I knew it would be a problem and have already understood since the time I intended to dual SLI my machine that I would need more cooling.
This is my second water cooled system though. I learned from my first machine that an internal system is lackluster for cooling capacity despite the noise from an external. My end goal is 2 Rads on either side of the Zalman taking their water supply from it and directing that straight into the pc while having the added benefit of fans blowing towards the rad as well. Although I do consider getting a better reservoir thanks to your input and my being fed up with its design. Problem is I want something that holds a lot of water and its done that better than anything else I've seen on the market with the added benefit of being grilled, now I just need it cooler (and to keep preventing corrosion). When I took it apart last it has some slight corrosion around the output holes that I had to clean up but it looked like I changed it out just in time.
But I knew all this already. Like I said the water was getting very hot. And I knew I'd need to upgrade to rads. Someday.
The funniest thing I've learned over the years of water cooling is how my dream was to build a silent system and yet all I've been doing is adding fans to cool down the water. I'd hate to imagine how many fans I'd need if I ran real heavy games on my rig. Still sad that what I have isn't enough for a 7 year old game though. Even with a graphics upgrade.
P.S. The Hydro Series from Corsair is well known on the forums out there as being a great cooler for the cpu. Again the probem would be without a fan the heatsinks on the board would still need something. And thats with a good cooler kit.

Current stable temps are... (with no load and just sitting there)
THRM: 27 c (within first 2 minutes of CoX running went to 31 c)
CPU: 27 c (within first 2 minutes of CoX running went to 31 c)
VREG: 53 c (within first 2 minutes of CoX running went to 54 c)
System 38 c (within first 2 minutes of CoX running went to 39 c)
Processor Avg. of the 4 cores:
41 c (within 2 minutes of loading CoX moved to 44 c average)
GFx cards:
40 c (within 2 minutes of loading CoX jumped to 52 c(primary)/40 c(secondary) non SLi atm
Now to run CoH at the loading screen and report what the temps jump to... So far it seems the only problem is the lack of a good radiator. Maybe some added fan power over the Motherboard. Honestly a better rad is a good report and if thats all I need to do I'll be happy. But I feel a motherboard fan and an added pump plus 3 rad fans would add a bit to much to repair it at this moment. Too bad Well I could always put the old GFx card coolers back on with the purchase of some new thermal paste haha! *sigh*

Those don't seem that extreme to me... Am I just getting a glitch with the newest patch? I could try running it for an hour tomorrow and see if that gets me any better heat results to share but I ran 2 tip missions and before that ran around Talos blasting enemies. I hear its good to have the temps be lower than 60 c. Some people manage room temperature. Should I be filing a support ticket or concerned with these temperatures?

At half speed, they still move a LOT of air, and are much much quieter.
OP,
Just as an added note. A good 3x120mm radiator with good airflow fans (I like Scythe Gentle Typhoons) [usually running at 1/2 power so they are near silent] will make a world of difference.
And adding another pump is probably not needed, unless you want it for the redundancy factor (one pump fails, the other keeps the water flowing). It's all about flow, but unless you've got a real tangle of tubing and/or lots of 90 degree bends, one pump can usually handle it.
My rig: I7-920 running at 4ghz, full motherboard water block, 2 GTX 480's (yea the hot ones) in SLI with full cover blocks. I'm running a PA 120.2 and a PA 120.3 set of radiators with scythe GTs (currently running at about 1200 rpm due to my fan controller).
System is near silent - my wife's air cooled rig is several times louder. Heck the hard drives are louder than the fans/pumps.
My full load temps are nearly equal to your idle temps: I average 39-40c on the cores and 40-42c on the video cards under full-load (real world) conditions. Actual torture tests go higher of course, but I've never crested 50c on the cores even while crunching/folding.
---
It really does sound like an overheating issue though. Whether that's an overheat on the motherboard (likely from the sound of it -- probably the vregs actually as they usually get some extra air from the CPU fan) or on the water cooled parts is a bit murkier, but you definately do need more rad space.
One easy way to test it would be to open up the case and point a room-type fan at the motherboard. If the problem goes away, then you know what was causing it and can take steps to get more air flow into the case.

Hello, my name is Soulwind and I have Alt-Itis.
You can probably go ahead and disable the fan voltage on your GPUs since there's no fan. Your temps seem OK, so I'm not sure they are overheating. As a previous poster stated you may be overheating your mobo chipset, so make sure you have enough airflow in your case.
And yeah as the other posters stated, 1/2 speed fans so they are quieter.
Run Prime95 and FurMark. Run those (separately and then at the same time) and monitor your temps. Those will stress your hardware more than any game. Then you'll be sure.
Current temps are...
THRM: 34 c CPU: 34 c VREG: 56 c System 42 c Processor Avg. of the 4 cores: 49 c GFx cards: 48 c/48 c I am noticing that the temp is leveling out between the cpu and gfx card fast now that I closed the game. The highest temperatures it recorded were as follows: THRM: 42 c CPU: 42 c VREG: 47 c System 42 c Processor Avg. of the 4 cores: 56 c GFx cards: 59 c/48 c Those don't seem that extreme to me... |
I'm suspecting hardware failure, not overheating. Try removing one video card and playing like that to see if the game still glitches. I'm pretty sure this game doesn't support SLI anyways. If you glitch on one card, try the other. If both fail, then you can start looking at other issues.
From doing a quick google search, I found the max temp on your video card to be 105c. I wouldn't even be worried about the temps unless they were above 70c. I didn't search for the processor max temp, but it is probably higher than 80c.
One more thing - did your heat sinks cover the video card memory too? If you didn't cool that, you probably ruined your cards.
Your temperatures look fine. The only temperatures that can tell us what is going bad are those under a load. Run the game for as long as you can and get the temperatures just before it glitches or goes black.

It would greatly help if you could constantly monitor and log your temperatures just before a crash. I used to use nTune before they turned it into a 3d program. I think I found an old 2d version that is much easier to read and set up for logging to a text file:

One thing you might be able to do is disable your secondary video card using Windows' device manager. That might help to isolate it without draining your cooling system.
Edit: I found a third-party temperature monitor that is more up-to-date than the nVidia one.

Hello I have a liquid cooled system and when I touch the non liquid cooled heatsinks with a minor fan blowing on them I notice they're frightfully hot, to the point that you wouldn't want to keep touching them for more than a second or two. I am guessing that this is the cause of my computer black screening when I run CoX for more than 30 minutes. However I am not sure. I will explain.

I recently added 2 GFx card liquid cooling plates to my cards in the hopes of running them in SLi. I have 2 GForce GTX 285's. I also have the liquid cooling on my processor. I have had the cooling on the processor for some time now but it ran CoX stable in minimum-Ultra mode for a long time with the fans cooling the cards. Well I updated and have a good loop, reservoir-->pump-->cpu-->gfx-->gfx-->reservoir. Problems now present themselves that the radiator style reservoir doesn't seem to be cooling enough for the cpu and gfx cards despite a large fan blowing air through it. The reservoir and water tubing/water are getting relatively warm. So I think its a solution of a dedicated radiator to keep the water cooled. However here's my confusion. When I touch the motherboard heatsinks they are extremely warm. And when I first noticed the heat in the reservoir I noticed it to be very hot but it would run for about 4 hours before getting soo hot that the computer locked up with no sound loop. Now though I can't play for more than an hour without a sound loop and Black screen. The computer is still on but I can't access the windows screen as though the graphics card just shut down. So what should I be looking to do? Should I cool the motherboard chips with another link in the tubing or should I focus on the graphics cards/cpu temps and not worry that the board chips are heating up because they may just be the result of heating gfx? Also should I have a fan blowing on the motherboard heatpipes?
I have an EVGA X58 3xSli Classified Motherboard and since it has no fan for cooling the CPU I am wondering how the motherboard pipes are staying cool. I have a fan on the case pointed at them from my:
Raidmax Smilodon Gaming Case but not sure its helping much.
2 EVGA GeForce GTX 285's
6 gigs (3 * 2 gig Corsair Dominators) RAM
Zalman Reserator 1 V2 Reservoir (removed the pump when it went bad, I replaced the dead pump and added a new pump inside the system and flow is good though I worry the hosing is too long and I might need to add another pump for support)
Zalman ZM-WB5 Plus CPU Waterblock
Swiftech MCP35X pump
2 Swiftech KOMODO-GTX285P892 Waterblocks
Here's the CoH Helper and Hijack This logs if anyone is able to give me a guess at whats wrong? Thanks for looking
