-75% Range

OK, I've read the forums for quite a while, and we all know that confront is totally worthless.

Only yesterday did I find out it's a 75% reduction in the enemy's ranged attacks. So, you get a 70 foot single target pull where they won't shoot at you.

Sappers anyone?

Or am I wrong and this is still useless? [I'm sure not going to respec into it just based on this new info.]

I picked it up on my MA/Fire toon for set bonuses. I also discovered at that time it has the range reduction aspect and I use it to pull frequently. The trick here is that on my other scrappers I have no reason to ever pull.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

True. Both my 50 scrappers "pull" by jogging through the first group into the second. They're /WP and /Inv so I need the aggro-donut.

I wonder if it could debuff a pylon...?

I've had a scrapper build with Hover and Confront to safely tank LR in the STF. Usually playing 2 accounts for that, so I could put her up and autoConfront, and fight the towers with the second account.

Confront (just like Taunt) can also be useful in BAF if your team wants to pull the AVs. Siege and Nightstar have very long range, so unless you break LoS or use Taunt/Confront you're going to have to run very, very far away to get them to run up to you.

... That said, I'm not even completely sure it works in that second scenario, I just assume it does.

That's what I use confront for on my main. Hover + Confront = tanked LR!

I never found Confront to be useless, even before it had a range debuff added to it. Aside from the obvious use for pulls, the power is also great for stopping runners and, you know, for what a taunt exists to do in the first place - taunt enemies off squishy team-mates. While a Brute's Taunt may indeed be AoE, it's also very slow to recharge, whereas a Scrapper can Confront enemies roughly once every three seconds.

I actually find playing without Confront to be hideously frustrating, as literally every spawn I engage will end up with at least one runner who takes off before I can finish him off, and considering said runner can run past an enemy spawn and given how travel powers suppress, it's much simpler to taunt said enemy back. This even has the effect of causing enemies to stay in your Burn patch and burn, as I discovered by accident.

For pvp it could be helpful instead of chasing super speed/jump blasters.

Their range is huge, my Brute's Taunt has a range of 96ft, and they can still target and fire at him when they are out of Taunt range.
