Can only villains get the TIP mission to unlock the new SF?

I am have not been successful in getting this tip to drop on my vigalante over the past few days. Curious to know if I just have bad luck OR if there are restrictions around getting the tip.

Hi,

talk about Deja Vu, asked the same thing ingame and here is a section from the Issue 20 patch notes page:

Mortimer Kal Strike Force

  • Mortimer Kal, a venerable wizard and member of the Midnight Squad, has been spotted in Sharkhead Isle. Rumors abound that he has secret information regarding Incarnate artifacts and ways of seizing such power. But whispers amongst dark circles tell of a weakness of his which can be exploited to force him to reveal those secrets to anyone brave enough to cross him.
  • A special Tip Mission now drops for villains and rogues in the Rogue Isles greater than level 20 revealing Mortimer Kal's weakness. Completing this mission will allow you to start Mortimer Kal's Strike Force with a team of at least 4 villains between levels 20 and 40.
  • Only the leader of the Strike Force needs to have completed the Tip Mission to unlock Mortimer Kal as a contact.
Hope this helps

I did this SF yesterday with Operative Tessa and enjoyed it. You question has already been answered but yes this is one of those rare occasions where if you want to do the SF you need a Villain or Rogue to open it. You get the same thing hero side if a Rogue tried to start up a Hess TF on Striga or a Katy Hannon in Croatoa.

I think the team I was on was all Villains and Rogues so the only minor concern was when we organinzed the original leader promoted me to leader since I was a 50 level .. so everyone would be a 40 level for the SF. Then he realized I might not be able to talk to Kal unless I'd done the tip mission. Fortunately I had and we were off and running.

Sometime today I want to try to get on an Admiral Sutter TF hero side so I can keep Tessa's record going. She has successfully completed every TF. SF and trial in game.. except Sutter's. and that will change SOON!

To anyone that hasn't done this yet I recommend the new SF. It's not long.. took us less than an hour. The story is interesting and while you are facing a combination of Warriors, Midnighters, and COT you do not spend a lot of time in those COT winding mazelike underground bases. Try it and enjoy the fun

Minor amusing moment, I never made the connection between your forum name and in-game name until I saw that post. I really should pay more attention to people's signatures.
