SS/Fire - Few "NON FARM" build related questions

Okies, so heres the thing. I'm not really looking to farm on this guy even though I know it can be an avid farmer. I just like SS/* and felt it would be a good pair with */Fire so I tried it and I like. Now, being the nitpick that I am I was looking to see a final build for him. Don't care if it has purps or pvpz in it. There easy enough to get now. What I do want to know is this?

What are some of the key points to shoot for on a SS/Fire brute?

I imagine that +rech would be a god send as would +recovery. I hear that 45% s/l defense is the thing for'em to. However, outside of defense I don't know what I should be considering "good" from my recharge and my recovery. I have one build that gains 145% global recharge perma-hasten with its T4 Spiritual Core Alpha as well as 3.197% recovery but only 33.5% ~ 33% S/L def. Now I know this is fixable with a purple insp. But what are your thoughts all? I like to make my own builds so thats why I hadn't posted it. I just kinda wanted to hear your thoughts on some of the "preferred key points" on your brutes. Thanks for the help in advance.

Edit: BTW, I have, before you ask, been looking around the forums and at guides. However I thought a more direct to the point discussion would be more beneficial then the answers I had found.

Edit Edit: I also have another build achievinge 45.9% def, 2.66% recovery and 61.3% Global Recharge and is reliant on Spiritual Core as well but I am not sure if this is any better.

For everyday play, going for the S/L cap with a good amount of recharge will be a great way to build.

Now if you were purely farming I'd say go for nothing but recharge. Since you want the best coverage all around, S/L cap + some recharge will make you a beast for pretty much anything.

If it gives you more versatility, you could aim for around 35% S/L/Melee, that will give you room to add more recharge or whatever else you feel you need and put you within a small luck of the soft-cap.

I lean toward defense, but how much and what type depends on the content you want to run. As a Brute, you'll get a lot of aggro and survivability is more of an issue outside of the farming context. After defense, I'd look to recharge and +HP.

For pre-i19 content, you can get away with 45% S/L defense or 32.5% with enough purple insps around for times you get in trouble. It'll give you the broadest applicability with great survivability and it'll be easiest to get.

If you want to do i19 content and the new incarnate content coming out, then adding E/N defense will be helpful (lots of energy damage from Praetorians). Some of the Praetorians will have 64% to-hit, which pushes the softcap figure up to 59% or 46.5% with an insp, but that won't be every opponent.

The more willing and able you are to stack your tray with purple insps, the more you can shift from a pure defense build to a recharge build. If you're happy carrying around a whole tray full of large purple insps, then you can focus VERY heavily on recharge. If you don't want to deal with insps as much, then you'll likely sacrifice some degree of recharge for defense.

You don't need to be softcapped, although either of the builds you mentioned could work. 33% defense is fine and I wouldn't go for more unless you go for the softcap since you can softcap with one purple.

I wouldn't worry about the incarnate content as far as defense goes, there will likely be plenty of buffs in the trials. Out of all the times I ran the trials in beta, I only died once and I solely played Corruptors on them.

Thanks for the responses guys. I will build towards my smaller def/higher recharge for now and if its not to my taste I will change it later. ATM, I am just having fun with my FS/Burn So much damage XD

My SS/Fire brute was essentially a punching bag for the AVs on the trials today, especially because I was running every single one with the bare minimum number of people. For once I really felt the lack of resistance in the character, and this is coming from a guy who will solo all four Riders in the Lady Grey Task Force with a few purples. It was BRUTAL.

We'll see how I do once I get off the iPad and and back to the game, though.
