Bids totaling more than inf cap in one slot

Am I supposed to be able to bid more than 2bil inf in one slot?
F'rinstance, if I am bidding 300mil per item should I be able to bid for 7 of them in one slot?

I was under the impression that this was not possible. Am I mistaken?

Just have some bid and then bid some more later. You don't need to have all 2bil+ in cash on hand at once.

I misinterpreted OP's question, nevermind!

Ah, my mistake. After a moment it consolidates your bids if they're exactly the same. Too used to canceling before it has a chance to consolidate :P

Did it fill normally? Or did you petition it when it happened to you?

I had to petition. I was just storing influence at the time, so the bid was under what I would expect to ever fill. These days I "store influence" in bids that, while low, I still have a reasonable expectation of filling at some point. I think of it as very slow motion flipping.

Mine is full of bids that I expect to fill. I hope the unusualness of it doesn't keep it from filling.

I wouldn't think unusualness would prevent the game from counting you as the high bidder if you are. You should be fine.

If placing a bid would put more than 2 bil in a single stack, I would recommend adjusting your bid amount up or down by 1 Inf so that if you need to pull the stack (for example, if the price spikes and your bids are now unlikely to fill), no stack will have more than the cap, and you don't have to wait for a GM to fix it.

Previously, the game had not allowed me to make bids that would total more than 2bil. I was kind of taken by surprise.

That's because it's impossible to place bids totalling more than 2 bil in one shot, and the old market didn't auto-stack like bids. If you placed 20 bids on the same item for 1 Inf each, then they'd fill 20 slots. Now, They'll be consolidated into two stacks of 10. Same thing happens if the bids were 2 billion each.
