EPIDEMIC: Nanovirus strikes Superpower Population! ((Upcoming RP event))
Considering the bulk of my characters are magic origin and have little applied technology aside from the occasional boomstick or wristwatch, it neither strikes a chord with me nor runs contrary to anything.
Since you're inviting criticism, the whole "out of control" aspect does not merge well with characters who are already challenged merely with keeping their powers under control, since such disruption would likely be incapacitating at best and fatal at worst. Similarly, characters who are already unstable loose cannons are unlikely to change much. In a sense, you've designed an RP event in which rather than RPing their characters, people are mostly stuck with being deranged versions of themselves. For some, this may be an interesting opportunity; most will probably disagree. |
I was hoping it could have been as easy as changing the characters sense of morality, but I'm still quite open to suggestions. Do you have any that could work out to suit various character styles?
I think I want to use my new dom that I just got to 50 for this, get her out there and involved and all that. She'd would probably get hit with it in the first phase.
Also, my global is @Ashlaylay, btw.
First off, my Rogue, Neutrino Pulse, could certainly steal the Nanovirus. The only thing is, she wouldn't do so herself, someone would need to hire her. She's level 50+1 Radiation Squared Corrupter, so any petty heroes guarding the Virus wouldn't really be a problem. I'm thinking perhaps Pulse hands it over to her client (one of your characters perhaps AI?) who then infects himself.
Not wanting to be responsible for such villainy, she would probably join up with the forces trying to stop this plague once it gains prominence.
Second, as to the virus' effect on characters, why not leave the degree of "insanity" up to the players? In every case it causes desire to spread itself in it's host, but while some opt to go stone cold nuts, others play the righteous madman. I feel like that might ease the above fears.
Let me know what you think here, of course, or in game @SilverChaos(I think) or Neutrino Pulse.

As for the degree of insanity? Yes, I think you're right. As long as they realize that they MUST spread the virus, its okay no matter how they play. I'll re-edit the virus.
I do believe this event was meant for everyone to participate in and be important in, not just the level 50+1s who can destroy entire continents. I could bring Pinny in and since she is a softcapped level 50+1 scrapper she could easily defeat anyone who has the virus before it even spreads, but that wouldn't be very fun, would it? |
Like real life, the virus is mutating like this thread. Any suggestions to make the virus more 'fun', balanced, and fair are very welcome. Do we have any potential 'buyers' of the nanovirus, so we can get our rogue in place? Also, I'm curious to see how many people are taking this event to heart. Anyone have any biosuits at the ready?

The event will probably start this weekend.
Get your crap together.
THIS EVENT IS NOT* A GO!
Disregard everything.
This event may be starting back up! Hooray! I'll keep you posted, and if you need to look for me, I'll be on probably tommorow night. Pocket D, as usual.
Ill JOIN YA AI!!!!
I think we need a Huge Event channel ingame
Btw what if we thought it was a virus but it's not
What if it's a av so small he enters people n destroys them inside while controlling them? An av mastermind with 10000 minnions
Maybe zombie mm with Dom mind control or troller illusions
as Ood Sigma said....We will sing to you, Doctor. The universe will sing you to your sleep. This song is ending. But the story never ends.
On a related note, what does everyone think of the nanovirus concept?
