Some advice on elect/storm?

Hey guys, recent returnee after an 8 month lapse, and just *had* to try out elect/. I chose /storm just because it seemed the most "logical" thematically, and I haven't played /storm in years.

I'm checking out the new Praetorian content, and since I'm soloing 80% of the time, I'm really liking Conductive aura to "recharge" with. However, at this point I'm picking all the elect/ powers just to check them out, though I've skipped over the mass sleep so far.

Since there's no elect/ guides that I can find, I wanted to get some feedback from those who've gained a lot of experience with the set to figure out a leveling build (we'll worry about the end-game build if/when I get there, my altitis being what it is.)

Thanks tons, and say "hi" to Trailer Trasher if you're in Cole-town!

Okay, first off, you need to get the Static Field. It is the single most useful power that you have.

When soloing it lets you take any size group of enemies and switch them off, allowing you to take them on one at a time at your leisure.

Not only does it turn them off, but it also saps the endurance of any enemies caught in it and then directly returns it to you if you are also in it (which you will be to also utilize conductive aura), and any ally that is in the field as well. This makes it still useful in teams when AoEs are flying around breaking the sleep.

I have an Elec/Storm as well and got it up to 50 a little while ago. Lots of fun, and good synergy with Freezing Rain. The later storm powers are a bit less synergistic with the requirements of Elec, but that just means you have different tools for different situations.

My typical strategy in the early levels, though, would be to drop the static field on a group of baddies, then hit them with a jolting chain. While they are reeling, hit them with chain fences to make sure that whenever they do wake up they don't leave the static field, and then watch them fall asleep again as they stand up. Pepper one or two with your damaging attacks as you like, and repeat the above as endurance allows, which it should. I did all that before inherent stamina, and did not take anything from the Fitness pool. Even now I leave stamina unslotted.

You can use Snow Storm as a herding tool to group them up if they are far apart by casting it on the farthest back enemy, then ducking around a corner so he comes to you, bringing all his friends, right on to a static field you dropped.

I hope you're seeing a pattern here with everything involving static field....

In most powersets the Sleep power is skippable, but for Electric Control this is an essential power. Static Field is a PULSING Sleep area, so even if the foes are woken up, they go back to sleep in a very short time. Plus, it provides a nice Recovery boost for you and any teammate standing in the Field, which makes it wonderful to use during battle even if the foes are being clobbered so they don't go back to sleep.

Most of the time, Static Field is your best opening attack, although the chaining Confuse is pretty good, too. Static Field, Jolting Chain and Chain Fences (to keep them all in place while they get up). Unlike most AoE Immobs, Chain Fences is NOT Damage Over Time, so it will not disrupt Static Field once it has been applied. It also does not prevent knockdown, so you can use Jolting Chain.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I didn't get my elec dom very high, but I love that the devs designed those parts of chain fences to fit the rest of the set. It does, however, conflict with storm as a controller secondary, since hurricane is a huge survivability boost with it's -tohit, but it knocks things out of conductive aura and static field. But I guess turning it off most of the time isn't that big a deal. Though I'd rather take cold dom and wait for sleet rather than freezing rain in storm for that specific move combo control.
