Radiation Blast??
Radiation Blast is a great a set and Rad/Fire is a powerhouse.
The sets beg to be played in or near melee range. I'd only choose one of the first two blasts, whichever you prefer. I'd skip Electron Haze; I like the cone and the KB, but feel it does not mesh well with /Fire Manip. Combustion from /Fire is a bad power and should be avoided (as is Blazing Aura).
Here is a sample set of power choices and slotting up to level 23.

Nice! But Stratos...why no Blazing Aura? along with Hot Feet would make it a "real burner". And the added damage would be nice too. I DO intend on being in or near melee area. I figured with some slows in Hot Feet it would be whats needed to keep potential targets from trying to squash me.

From what I know of fire as secondary Blazing aura has only an 8ft radius which is pretty small when you are firing off all the other aoes. Combustion takes forever to animate and again has a small radius. I am planning on taking hot feet for my secondary farmer build in my fire/fire becuase it has a 20ft radius. It takes a lot of endurance and if you are soft capping chances are you will already have a lot of toggles running(shield, weave, cj, (maybe tough), before your auras are toggled on.

However, I am kind of weird. Look, Blazing Aura has a small radius, most enemies are never in it. On top of that it costs a TON of endurance. It costs 50% more to run than the Blazing Aura that Fiery Aura gets AND it deals (slightly) less damage. I run it because I built around +recovery so I can afford it (OK, even with all my +recovery, I still can't afford it, but its mostly manageable). You have to actively do stupid things to make it work. Things like stand next to a Lt. letting BA and Hot Feet tick while you shoot other enemies all the while letting that Lt. beat on you (the damage buff I used to get from old defiance was beautiful). And even with end saving tricks like that, it still will run you dry long before Consume has a prayer of recharging.

OK cool...so no Blazing Aura. No problem, I will find something else to fill the power choice. Thank you all for your time and advice.

In my personal experiences with IOs, especially having consume, you should be able to run BA and Hotfeet and attack when slotted properly without a problem especially with consume to back you up. IIRC it now, unless only for the tank version, also grants a +recovery buff for each enemy drained.

Consume does give a recovery bonus, but only for 15 seconds. You won't be able to use it more than once a minute or so (and maybe less, especially if you are softcapping and can't fit in Hasten) and still have good defense so that's 45 seconds or more with no bonus.

Its about 54 seconds recharge on the build I did, but that's 15 seconds where you should continue to be at full still. So figure about 40 seconds between "effects" Which should be enough time with the end reduction slotting.

I left combustion in the Rad/Fire build I have. I like the radius and being soft capped to S/L the animation time isn't so much of a problem.
I'll agree on all points about Blazing Aura being a bad choice. In my experience I did little damage with it because nothing was ever within 8 feet for very long. That was mainly due to the longish animations of /Fire's powers combined with the "run away" effect in Hot Feet.
If you want a potent 8 foot power take Burn. It's very good since it was unnerfed again, costs a pittance for end and is even more effective if you go over to red side long enough to get a PPP with an AoE immob.

I just don't talk about mine, made a Rad/Psy the instant the sets were available. The power of Irradiate+Psychic Shockwave was too obvious. Also, Irradiate is one of the best powers in the game for the achilles heel proc, the set easily hits 35% S/L defense, then it's just a matter of hitting drain psyche so your regen can cover up the last 10% damage coming through.
For awhile that was my farming character, it didn't have the power of RoA, but it had it beat on recharge, and thanks to irradiate I never miss. I also have no positioning games to play on that character but "stand in the middle" I don't even target anything ever.
Thing is, I just got bored of it. It performed superbly, and I probably wouldnt have if neutron bomb was faster to animate, but beach ball of doom just kinda killed the pacing for me. Also, Atomic Blast should be a bigger mushroom cloud than it is, or a shakier one, but it's just neutron bomb again. So Animation quibbles knocked that out for me.
I do sometimes miss having both the 'crashless nuke' (IR->DP->PS) and the crashing nuke Atomic, esp when you got your recovery high enough to use Atomic as a crashless.

Made a Rad/Fire.
Aim + Build Up.
Irradiate > Fire Sword Circle > Combustion.
It's gorgeous, and it's only level 16.

OMG where is the Radiation Blast love?? Sure it's not FOTM but it's still fun and it's a power not everyone and their mother has.
Anyone have any suggestions for the powers in Radiation Blast to select? My secondary is Fire Manipulation...
Thanks in advance!
