Kat/WP vs Kat/Regen vs Kat/Invuln for general gameplay
Regen has several clicks, which means you will be constantly redrawing your sword, so not my vote. Kat/WP is very popular it seems, and Kat/Invuln should work well. My vote is for Kat/Elec though... Defense from Kat combined with resistance from /Elec as well as all the endurance you could ever want is really nice.

Katana/regen does not force you to redraw your sword "constantly." This is a commonly said and is not accurate in the slightest. If you find the redraw to be annoying, then don't do it, but I find that it is not really noticeable unless you make a point to notice it. I think the gain is well worth the "loss."
All three builds work very nicely, but it definitely depends on what style of gameplay you want. If you simply want to set your toggles up and kill forever, /wp or /inv ride in that boat. Their survivability is very static, however. If you start dying, the only tools you may have to counter it are stacking more DA, or throwing your T9 (if you even have it).
With regen, you have multiple tools to use depending on how deep of a hole you throw yourself in. If you build with Shadow Meld in mind, that will add another possible tool. I went with Mako to have Water Spout for some extra damage, and mitigation through KU and soft-Mez.
Regen is a box of toys, whereas inv and wp don't require your input to be as useful as they are. Regen is also unforgiving if you mess up. That's why I prefer it. It's a lot harder to do the same amount of work.
I hate to be the bringer of bad news... but Willpower sucks!!! you're better off rolling a regen

Actually, when him running level 50 content and TF's, I most often hit MoG (Not a heal), which grants me 15 seconds of ***-whupping, by which time the danger is pro'ly dead, or a hard target is locked into a KU/KD chain.
Yes, I'm not soloing AV's... but not every scrapper has to be able to do that to be decent. Scrappers just have to be fun**.
*He does have T3 Spiritual Alpha as well, so not STRICTLY SO's, but he's been on the current build longer than Alpha's been out.
**Fun: you enjoy hurting things with the scrapper. There are no "gimp" scrapper combos.
***Attempting to tank Reichsman/Lord Recluse/Statesman/LGTF Rikti AV, et alia suicidal scenarios. - And succeeding sometimes *yay, Calling of the Wolf*.

When I use MY heals is whenever I'm dumb enough to take a carnie mission. None of my other brutes or scrappers are quite as fragile in the face of a Master Illusionist... not even my ss/fire brute, and he *should* be since they both rely on click heals and have no resistance to psi.
OP:
For 'general' gameplay I'd throw my support behind WP. It's tough enough to get through most content on SOs. It has defense or resistance against everything except toxic damage. Backed by Divine Avalanche the combo hits its stride at level 18 with 'Rise to the Ha Ha Ha Ha I'm Parrying Everything So Whatever Sneaks Through Will Be Regenerated By the Time You Hit Again' and never looks back.

Heya all I just came back to the game and am having a tough time deciding between the Kat/WP, Kat/Regen or Kat/Invuln. (I have considered DM/Shield as well with the inherent fitness and early siphon life)

I don't have a lot of money to put into them since me and a friend are starting on a new server. But I am willing to work towards IOs.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance!
