WST: More than just TFs

Thinking back to Guild Wars, I've seen a parallel between the WST and the Zaishen Challenge Quests. In GW, you can get a new Zaishen Challenge Quest each day from a specific contact (er... signpost) in the main PvP staging area. Completing Zaishen quests awards Copper Zaishen Coins, which can be used to buy items, or upgrade to Silver Zaishen Coins. Silver coins can then be used to buy rarer and more expensive items (including Skill Tomes, a rare drop which occurs only in hard mode), and Gold coins can be used to buy rarer items still -- none of the items available for Gold Zaishen Coins are available as a normal purchase, and some of them are only available with Gold Zaishen Coins.

Zaishen Challenge Quests change each 24 hours, and come in three varieties: Mission quests (complete a mission existing in the game), Bounty quests (defeat a boss-rank monster existing in the game), and Combat quests (participate in a PvP scenario). Our WST is very similar to the first option; each week we participate in an existing TF for extra rewards. But what about the second option? Our GMs go unnoticed and, other than the occasional badger getting some buddies to help, rarely attacked.

Proposal: In addition to the weekly TF, set a weekly GM which will give extra rewards. If a Notice of the Well seems like too much of a reward for a GM, fine, but double or triple merits for the first time you defeat the GM that week doesn't seem so bad. (I say triple, as some players may feel 4 merits is still not worth their time.)

I have no expectation of the third option for Zaishen Challenge Quests ever gaining an equivalence here, as we neither have popular PvP nor interesting PvP scenarios.

There have been other suggestions for making GMs "cool" to defeat. But now that the WST concept exists in this game the idea of applying that to GMs does seem at least something worth considering.

I'll bet a simpler idea might just be something along the lines of making the reward for defeating a GM be random between two possibilities: 90% of the time you get a Merit and 10% of the time you get an incarnate Shard. I'll bet even with only a 10% chance to get a Shard there would be many more people interested in hunting them again.

Nah.

Leave the Merit Rewards as standard. The 10% chance of a Shard should be in addition to the 2 merits. That's still quite a good enough chance to make people take another look at the validity of hunting the GMs.

Give people a chance to get a NOTW in solo play.
While I team a LOT (99% of the time) for those that dont team much it is very difficult to get those NOTW.

Maybe have it as something similar to the TIPS rewards:
1) Link to TIP missions - at the end of the Morality mission give an option - 1 A.Merit or 1 NOTW

2) Seperate Mission list that after 5-10 (whatever) grants a NOTW but is restricted (somehow) to 1 NOTW per week even if you do this new content AND the WST.

And something should be done to make GM's more enticing:
1) Guaranteed Orange drop (recipe or salvage) for all ppl on the team - this can still result in "crap" drops.
2) Inc Merits from 2 -> 15.
3) Or something (lol)

According to Paragonwiki's collection of data, Hamidon's Mitos have approximately 7.5% chance for a shard. While, in the abstract, that sounds like a good idea for GMs, in actual play that probably wouldn't be enough for players. After all, against Hamidon you're going to kill many Mitos before you leave the zone. But you'll only kill one GM at a time.
