Scroll wheel not working

Posted

I just came back after being away for several months. In that time I also got a new computer so all my old settings are gone.

I was used to using my mouse wheel to zoom in and out but apparently that is no longer in the default settings. When I go to edit those settings I cannot use the mouse wheel to change the settings. I can use different keys, or mouse buttons but I do not want that.

How does one bind zoom in and out to the mouse scroll wheel?

Is there any way that you can change your scroll wheel to 'middle button'? That worked for me.

Not sure what you mean by that.

Well, you didn't say what kind of mouse you have. Mine is a Logitech, and has a control panel where you can change the button functions.

Just a plain old microsoft mouse. No option to change the button layout other than to swap left and right. The odd thing is it is the exact same mouse I was using on my old computer and it had no issues.

Did you accidentally hit the CTRL key? (Sometimes it rests the mouse.) See if hitting the CTRL key again helps.

Is it an Intellimouse?

If the above doesn't work, try these slash commands in game:

1. In the game try these commands:

/unbind mousewheel

/bind MOUSEWHEEL "+camdistadjust"

Also, have you adjusted the scroll speed in the game? The default is super slow. (I have mine set to about 75, I think.)

Well very odd but I changed mice and the wheel worked on the different one. Frustrated I plugged the first mouse back in and it worked. Ty for your help.

YAY! I am so glad you got it working, HC...I know how frustrating things like that are. Just sounds like the mouse needed to be recognized, but wasn't at first.

Had this a couple of years ago on an Intellimouse - eventually ditched the drivers supplied on the CD and reverted to Windows basic MS mouse drivers - and as if by magic my mousewheel started working.

In Vista and Windows 7, the Intellipoint drivers were the cause of the scroll wheel not working properly in CoX with Microsoft mice. The latest version of the Intellipoint drivers seems to have solved that issue, however.

The workaround was to kill the intellipoint process, and open up the hardware page. Right-click on your mouse and disable it. Then re-enable it.

My Dell mouse's scrollwheel broke (button works, but it won't scroll), so I bought a Microsoft Comfort 4500 mouse. Had the same problem as above, in that everything works except the camera zoom in/out with the mousewheel.

Updated from Microsoft's site, and the scrollwheel works fine now. Newest drivers definitely worked better than what came with it.

Logitech M705 wireless mouse here with the same problem. It does scroll, but you have to run and run the wheel to get it to zoom out in-game.

To help those with similar issues, disabling "smooth scrolling" in the Logtech software fixes the issue.
