Wondering if Champion is the Change of Scenery I Need...
I'm not going to bash any other servers; they all have some great players and unique things to offer.
Why I would recommend Champion to ANYONE:
1) We are extremely active with TFs. We have two server-wide channels (both of which are usually full) dedicated to help with this (and GM hunting, team-finding, etc.).
2) As you mentioned, there are a lot of great writers here. From Juzam's interviews, to Silas' guides, to lots of our better-known players posting help in other forum sections; there are creative folks here who want to help.
3) We have the longest-running CoH event in the game, here: Tanker Tuesday. We also have a Champion-only events committee that throws events in addition to the ones found on every other server.
4) We have good people here. Every server does; but people here will really go out of their way to help you if you're seeking it. Look at any post made recently for help and I'll pay you if you see the poster mocked or alienated - we really do try to take care of our own.
5) There are a good mix of players. We have some EXCEPTIONAL PVP-ers here, lots of SGs that are still around from the game's inception, and some Goldside/Redside players, too. We are not LOW population; we're 4th or 5th on the list, usually. Big enough to be fun and small enough to be personal - the best of all worlds.
I play on Virtue, too (Started the name thread sticky and some others there); and I like that server a lot, too. There are some GREAT people there.
But Champion is home. Like some of the regulars say: Champion or GTFO.

You can get the feel of the server by joining two of the most popular global channels and then decide for yourself.
BMT- However your interest in farming and PL isn't allowed in that channel, but you will find plenty of TFs- teams and great players.
Champions United- Chatting, PL, Farms, TFs- Teaming and great players.
The frustrations you mention I believe happen for people on this server too. So I don't know that its a fix for you, but sometimes just a change is nice

There's really only one thing I'd like to comment on regardin' the OP, and that's the 'log in at any time and do something' inquiry. As with any low- to mid-population server, there are peak and non-peak times. Mornin' to early afternoon aren't the greatest as people do have school/work/obligations, which some people tend to forget. Mid-afternoon through the evenin' are fine, though.
Oh, and just because we're lesser population doesn't mean we're elitist. I just tend to view it as quality over quantity.

If I may be so inclined to ask...
Would any of the more populated SGs be willing to give sort of a "tour" of their SG, and sort of the feel of Champion as a whole, so I can be better informed of my decision on whether to come to Champion or Freedom?
Honestly, if you want an accurate feel of Champion, you'd be better off joining the two main global channels, BMT of Champion and Champions United, than to join one insular SG.

Do ya'll ever use Vent for any of your TFs, Raids, so on, so forth? It's something that I've come to use almost as a crutch just so I don't have to type everything out during play time.

We also have a community vent thats used for raiding (hami raids, cop's and alike)
.. speaking of hami raids, there is 1 in a couple hours if youre so inclined to get a glimpse of us working together
.I can think of a 1/2 dozen vents that get used on a regular basis for whatever, general chit chat.. and you also get the sg's that use theirs for teams and such..
You'll find that we're a good mix of everything. You find what you want, if you look and are open.
I think that's all I really needed to hear. You guys are friendly, knowledgeable players that do the same sorts of things I enjoy doing as a big, close-knit community. Now I just need to get the money to transfer over 9 50's and a few alts... :P

This is a great server, any group of people that tolerate the likes of me is a great place!!
Seriously though, tons of great people here I would agree. And yes, most SG's carry their own Vent and are willing to give the info to those on the team from all my experiences. As with anything, you'll encounter people that you won't see eye to eye with. But, that's just life in general!
Champion truly is quality over quantity, and if it came down to it I am certain a lot of ppl would put petty differences aside if it came down to the greater good! I'm sure any of these people here if you contacted them on their global would be more than willing to give you a hand. Enjoy ... "Champion, how I love Thee!"

Well, I was just removed from my SG today, which was a big surprise, so now I'm sort of in a rush to find a new home. I think I'm going to be looking at making a slow transition from Virtue to Champion over time...
I sent out some global invites and asked for invites into BMT and Champions United. For the record, my global name is @runt9, if anyone would like to add me. The only toon I have over on Champion right now is Random Scrapper, just so I have something over there for free. As time goes on, I'll probably begin moving toons over there. I look forward to teaming with some of you soon
I've been on Champion for 7 years and I feel that it has been a very balanced comunity out of all the MMos I've tried or seen. Something can be regularly found to do. I tend to be one of those players that have toons built not necessarily for performance, but that's not to say I can't contribute effectively in other ways. I hope you find what you seek here with us!

You may find some ppl that you enjoy being with more than others after a time and you'll be in a better position to join their SG as opposed to SG hopping. Get to know us before making your decision. I'm not going into details, but I'm a little stuck on Virtue right now, and I've been looking at the possibility of a change of scenery recently. I've looked around at all the servers, and Freedom looks good for Farming and PvP, which are sort of not my main priorities...
I'm a big TFer, especially speed TFs. I can run ITFs all day, and I really enjoy STFs, LGTFs, Manticore, Moonfire, Hess, and Citadel as well. I'd like to find a home where I can log on just about any time of the day, get a speed TF going, have fun for a little while, go farm for a little while, level up a new toon on a casual team or PL a bit, and enjoy being with a group of people who actually understand the game.
That's the biggest point. Half the RPers on Virtue have poorly designed toons that are built for RPing and NOT for performance. There are tons of noobs who come to Virtue because it's highly populated, and they run amok and ruin many of my PuG teams. They join our SG, they make me pull my hair out trying to help them when they don't understand a word I'm saying, and then when I want to run a TF, everyone tells me they'd rather not right now cause they already did one today.
So I'm thinking about Champion because from all the reading I've done on the forums, people like Silas (who has one of the best support guides I've ever read), and *insert name of guy here* who has the signature with the 15 minute ITF, 27 minute STF, etc, populate this server. It's lower population which means the people here are elitist and know what they're doing. I'd like to investigate that. If I were to create a toon over here, join global channels, and look into some of the better SGs, would I be going to the right place?
TL;DR: I want a change of scenery. I love speed TFs and could run them all day. I also want to farm and PL on occasion and raid from time to time. I want to be around smart players who are mature and understand the game. Is Champion right for me?
