Fire/EA or WM/Ea brute
Well, i talked with a few people in game tonight, and every single one tried to detour me from even thinking about making a /EA character. And all day I have not even seen one.
Should /EA not even be considered?

-A good set of IO's
-A good character, because you gotta love it enough to put up with it's 'issues'
-Not much of a character design, because you'll almost never see your character
I've had A LOT of fun with Pretty and Strong (my wm\ea), but I didn't (and still don't) have an easy time with it as I do with my super reflexes brutes.
If you got a good concept and think you'll have fun with it, I say go for it. It is indeed a fun set either way.

I wouldn't go with fire as a melee counterpart for it, though. The early levels would be a misery. WM would be a much better counterpart, for the reasons noted in the post above mine. A primary with mitigation built in helps a ton (mine is SS/EA).

/EA is a fun set that can be made pretty ridiculously powerful with the right IOs. Because almost any melee secondary can be made pretty ridiculously powerful with the right IOs, I'll just say that I find my /EA brute to be my most fun character. He solos well and teams well. He never runs out of endurance. He can cap his own HP.

First, does the dmg on fire makeup for its lack of any mitigation (unless killing fast counts as mitigation
|
Anyway i'll post 2 build, so critique away. Things im worried about in the builds: Endurance usage, overall recharge, enough aoe dmg. With the fire build, not sure if i hurt my dps not taking scorch, and on the WM build, wondering if its bad that I skipped whirling mace (whirling mace seemed to recharge quick enough).

The heal from energy drain is only good with a lot of mobs around you. An alternative to aid self is to simply use green inspirations. The problem with aid self is that it can't be activated sometimes when the character is under some effects. Overall, it's nice to have. If you can't fit it into your build, inspirations can do the job as well.
Well its nice to hear from some /ea users that actually like the set. Do you currently use Aid Self on your build? I noticed even slotted up it only heals for just under 40%.

If I wanted to solo pylons or AVs with the build, I might go back to Aid Self (it'd take some finessing, but I think I could make it work), but the damage type from SS is resisted enough (and the rage crash would do enough to cripple my dps) that I don't tend to bother with those particular challenges.

Thanks all for the continued info. And for the link to the guide. It shed some light on attack chains and some other details with /EA.
The extra damage seems nice, and Ill have to admit that after reading the guide, ive also considered a fire/sr brute, but id miss the enduration management, and gain a ton more of ddr.
Decisions, decisions. I plan on deciding what to make by tonight though.
I actually have a high-level fire\sr brute and it's a fantastic combo, but like all defense sets, it blooms late and end management pre-IO's can be an issue.

Is it still true that Fire Melee is stronger on a brute than a scrapper? I thought i read before that fury affects the DOTS, but since fury was 'changed', not sure if the brutes FM pulls ahead still.
So, ive never did fire/ wm/ or /ea and its been at least a day since I rolled an alt, so thought id get your opinion on these builds.
First, does the dmg on fire makeup for its lack of any mitigation (unless killing fast counts as mitigation I've read posts on wm/ea being pretty and strong, but with enough io's, it didn't actually seem that bad in mids. Is it that bad?

With the fire build, not sure if i hurt my dps not taking scorch, and on the WM build, wondering if its bad that I skipped whirling mace (whirling mace seemed to recharge quick enough). Also considered putting a Force Feedback Recharge Proc in Crowd Control and changing one of the melee attacks with Kinetic Combat to even out the #'s.
I havent thought out what alpha's i'll get going for yet. My original builds had maneuvers instead of aid self, so the aid self builds now have lower defense numbers, and a tad less recharge. Is energy drain enough help, or is Aid Self a must?
The builds are a rough draft.
