Windows7 - 32 or 64-bit

I'm having some issues with my OS and have decided to flatten and reload my PC. I've been running Vista Home Premium for at least a couple of years and have decided to reload with Win7 Pro.

Does anyone have any advice on whether to load the 32 or 64-bit version? My rig should be able to take advantage of the 64-bit capabilities; any downsides to running that version in general and in particular to CoX?

64 bit has slightly higher minimum requirements, but other than that, no particular issues. Make sure your hardware has 64 bit drivers (not typically an issue, if you're coming from a vista system.)

No issues with COH here - been running it since the public beta, 64 bit.

I haven't had any problems with the 64bit version, either with any program or CoX.

64bit is quickly becoming the standard too and lets you use more that 4 gigs of RAM properly.

Edit: Although it's not a problem per se, if you ever have the option of a 32bit or 64bit program, go with the 64bit one since it's designed to work on a 64bit OS.

And as said above, make sure your graphics drivers and what not are the 64bit versions.

I have Windows 7 64 bit and am having issues w/CoH (there's a thread about it on here)....but I think it's something with Liberty and/or live servers...I have frame rate issues while playing on live but when I'm on test there's no issues.

I didn't have any issues up until i19 if that helps

My recommendation is to install the 64-bit version. 64-bit nowadays is fairly mature, and Vista 64 was basically the largest transition towards 64-bit compatibility. This does not mean every program out there runs at 64-bit. Most programs run at 32-bit, but is compatible with a 64-bit OS simply due to the drivers. At the beginning of Vista, 64-bit was largely new and drivers were not always available for 64-bit. Nowadays it is common for newer hardware to supply 64-bit drivers for both Vista and Windows 7.

Personally, I don't have a problem with CoH, having ran it on Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64.
