Repeated 'no mapserver' errors entering missions

I got onto a respec trial for the first time in ages, and when we got to the final mission I was unable to enter the reactor building; the only one on the team to be locked out. Every time I clicked on the door I got Vista's spinning wheel until it timed out and gave me 'mapserver unavailable'. Once that happened, all I could do was log out to desktop; logging out any other way to me to nothing but skybox (no world, no UI elements). When I started COH again it always told me 'that account is already logged in', as for any other disconnect.

I tried rebooting the machine, turning off the firewall, but no joy getting in. The only other time I've been locked out of trials this way was when Norton blocked a mission server IP for a misdiagnosed intrusion attempt, but I don't see any log entry to indicate that. Any idea what might have caused this?

Yeah, I get this in certain Tip missions.


I think certain servers need a maintenance round.

What server are you on? I'm on Virtue, getting this so far on Hero Tip missions in Atlas. Two of them so far.

Most of us get the occasional mapserver disconnect. It can happen because of a networking problem anywhere between the client and the server apps. In general the closer to the server it happens the more people will be affected.

Its normally just a case of waiting for it to kick you out and logging back in.
You will as you have discovered get the message "This account is already logged in" this is because whilst the client no knows it has disconnected the server doesn't yet and won't until it times out - that is probably the same timer as the inactivity logout.
When you attempt to login the server reports this back to the client and you get the message, clicking OK to that logs you off of the server. You should then be able to log back in normally.

Occasionally you will find this happens repeatedly and you should report this to support so they can assist you in identifying the problem - assuming you haven't just pulled your network cable out or something else equally obvious. If it is happening to everyone it may be a problem on the servers or with their provider. If its just you then it is likely to be your PC, local network or ISP. If it affects some people but not everyone then its probably some link in between which will be out of both of your control.

You may get a general feel for how many are affected if you have some of the more popular global/server chat channels displayed by the number of comments made on them about it.

Nah, this has been a general occurrence forever, though it usually happens due to lack of maintenance done on the servers. I mean seriously, when's the last time maintenance happened?

This happens to me whenever I am on TFs and the server is yellow. This all started happening after the last issue was released. You can contact support but there is nothing they will be able to do to help at that moment. By the time they respond your TF will most likely be over.
