Are You A Gamer Addict or Gamer Hobbier

I don't know to many people who get to hang out with a large number of their friends almost every night. As Force said most people would come home watch TV, maybe you would talk to a few on the phone one at a time. Trying to actually communicate at a bar or a party is almost impossible. The study does not take into account things like Ventrilo, Steam and FB.

All computer games are not equal either. There are people on FB who play farmville, vampire wars, mafia wars etc. Who consider themselves "gamers". I'm sure the gals on the lifetime website playing fashion wars think they are gamers. Are there more physically healthy hobbies/obsessions? ...Yes!

There are some people who get addicted, the true meaning of addiction. Those instances are the exception and not the rule. I would think that those people are predisposed to an addiction. Some people can handle alcohol, marijuana, gambling or have tried drugs without becoming addicted.

I'll always be a "Champion" at heart. My server away from home.

It fills you up for a while, but the long term effects aren't good.). I disagree with the premise that there's a large, harmful effect, but I think there is a difference in the type of social interactions, and balance is needed.
I also think it depends on the person. GP like gaming for the exact same reason I do. We are both stay at home moms with a brood of children. It's cheaper and easier just to stay home and meet ppl this way. I also have an addictive nature by default. (I can thank my mom, dad, and grandfather for that) But for some reason, this *addiction* that I have for games is safer than anything else I could and have been addicted to. But I took care of it LIKE A BOSS! It's like anything else, you have to not let it overrule you.

I'd heard some relationships were destroyed because of MMO's but like someone posted how are we to really know the underlying reasons for said breakup? I could say Mo doesn't love me anymore because he's ALWAYS on CoH PvPing but I'd know it's bogus. There's never just one single reason and where the other reason may not be good enough the "gaming" reason seems to be easier to swollow for the person involved and garner sympathy from his/her friends.

There's a reason mmo players are depicted the way they are.

If the bulk of your personal connections can be literally unplugged, you can't be living a fulfilling life with family and friends.

Coh is made up of mostly casual players, but there are some, I'll be away on business come home and they're on, go to a bbq with my family come back and they're on, go on vacation get back and they're on.

And those people who've played for years and still are logging in heavy hours aren't happy fulfilled people, they live in stages of denial about the reason why.

If you quickly dismiss that quote as stupid the authors as morons et cetera, then you've answered the titles inquiry.

Me, I play with my boys now and then, so very casual.

I beg to differ. Perhaps this is that way with you but need I remind you, not everyone is like you. His or her needs vary.

If someone lives in a REALLY small town and they are not big into hunting and the only outlet they really have for stimulating conversation via face to face chat is with the grocery store checkers then, quite honestly, I do not see how this comment should to apply to them.

Each person has their reason for playing as little or as much as they want and this does not mean they

Just to be different I was going to let this pass without comment, because I have no reason to care what this person thinks, but unfortunately other people noticed it too. <.<

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

I'm apparently in some sort of a state of denial so I can't verify that anyone wants to have a go at my leg.

But if they did I'd just pretend everything was ok...
