Greetings, Heroes!
Friday, Jan 21st at 5 PM Pacific/8PM Eastern, Acanous is hosting a Master of Statesman's Task Force race!
Grand Prize of one fully crafted set of Gladiator's Armor
Entry fee is 10,000,000 Influance/Infamy, per entrant.

Team Leaders are required to be Heroes, who do not posess the "Master of Statesman's Task Force" badge at the beginning of the race. Your badge will be your proof of completion.

This competition is otherwise open to any archetype, so long as you meet level requirement and have access to Hero zones.

How it works:
If you wish to compete, you can preregister by posting here, in-game Mailing @Acanous with your choice of entrant, or by showing up with 10 million inf on Jan 21st.
Anyone who did not pre-register is advised to show up early to ensure you get a spot. Judges will be available for registration from 4PM Pacific until 5pm, when teams are selected.

If you are a Team Leader, you will be invited to team by one of the judges. All leaders will roll off for order of teammate selection, with ties being decided by coin flip. Team selection then proceeds one at a time, until all teams are filled.

If you are an entrant, please stand under the globe in Atlas Park as though you were in a Costume Contest so team leaders can easilly survey your archetypes and powers.
Entrants that are not under the globe in Atlas Park when they are called to a team will be disqualified.

Judges will lead extra teams as required until all entrants have a team.

Once all teams have been recorded, team leaders will be free to leave the judge's team and form with their selected players. Once each team leader signals they are ready in local, Acanous will broadcast the "Go".

Teams will make their way to Independance port, and begin a Master of Statesman's Task Force run . This means No Temporary Powers and Team is allowed Zero defeats for the uninitiated.

the first team leader to return to Acanous displaying the "Master of Statesman's Task Force" badge will be declaired the winner.
The Winner will be announced in the "Virtue TFs 2010" channel.

The 2nd and 3rd place winners will also be eligable for prizes as follows:

1st place: Gladiator's Armor set and 1/2 of all influence put into the purse
2nd place: 8 Luck of the gambler: +7.5% Recharge speed IOs, and 1/4th of all influence put into the purse.
3rd place: 1/4th of all influence put into the purse.

All team mebers must be present at the time of awarding. In case of any disputes, the Invention Enhancements will be put up on the auction house, and influence gained will be divided equally.

Good luck!

Your timezones have the West Coast starting an hour earlier than the East Coast.

You should allow set teams instead of having a leader having to pick from a pool of people. I think you'd have more interest.

I completely agree with Magnet. I would totally love to do this IF we could bring our own team and not picked from a pool. Would you consider changing so that you can bring your own team if you want and if not then you could pick from the pool of peeps wanting to do it.
=D

Agreed.

Well, with ym way you'll also be guaranteed to have no "left overs" three of 4 people who wont get to participate.

Maybe if you're set on having leaders pick from a pool the people who want a set team need to drop 50 mil to be in it. Just brainstorming here.

Well, this way opens the run up to more players. Further, you CAN bring a bunch of your friends, and select them.
There would be a chance that someone else picks one of yours, but it diminishes with greater turnout.

So you want ppl who don't have the badge (Meaning they probably aren't capable of running an MoSTF in most cases) to pay you an entry fee to run a TF? Why isn't it free? C'mon, they only way to really incite competition is to front the cash yourself. Making them pay seems disrespectful. The real STF'rs don't push for money, they push for times. It's a personal thing.

As for not being able to bring your own team? Are you TRYING to see them fail? The most successful STF's & fastest STF's happen when you play with those you trust, not PuG's.

Have a nice day. Hope this goes well for you, but I suggest dropping the entry fees, its uncool. Front the money, be a man!

So... the grand prize is something that is literally impossible to split evenly between your team? How nice of you.

Sold off-market, the Gladiator's Armor proc can be worth more than the influence cap...

I'd say there's a way to split that among an eight-member team.

But if you're going that route, there's no point to having the prize be IOs at all.

And either way, given that it's pretty much a forced pug, there'd be a LOT of ill will tossed around from the folks who just want inf, and those on the team that want the IOs, and who gets WHICH IO, and on and on. I'd rather be on the second place team where you get a clean split than deal with all that crap.

Firstly: I am not doing this for money, and am in fact fronting all the prizes myself. The monetary requirement is there mostly to encourage players not to join if they don't have a good character with which to play. I want to see good players and well balanced teams, with a real chance to succeed.

Secondly: I asked for the team leaders to bring characters that do not have the badge. This is differant than asking for players who do not have the badge.
Most of the populace has a small stable of 50's, generally with only one or two dedicated badge toons. The requirement is there to discourage cheating. Leaders can easilly be checked for the badge before the competition begins. The only alternative to this would be sending a judge with each team. Seeing as there is a limited number of trustworthy judges, and an unknown number of possible teams, this seems like the best option.

Finally: I realize that the IO set cannot be split equally by an 8 player team. Read my opening post.
If you picked a team comprised mainly of your friends in-game, you could quite possibly keep the crafted IOs and give the full inf portion to the one or two players who aren't in your normal group. Or, you could just have me sell them and split the inf evenly.
The money gained from a full set of gladiator's armor sells for somewhere between 3-4 billion.
A Luck of the Gambler +Rech, Crafted, goes for about 160-180 million, at the best of times. The first place prize is greater than the second place prize.
The second place prize is still pretty dang good.

My Rad defender will be there, been dying for the MoSTF for awhile.

Haven't gotten a lot of intrest with this, so far only 3 people have pre-reg'd. If there aren't enough people to get a real race going (Min 3 teams) I'll pass out the LOTGs to those who have pre-reg'd and show up, and try this again after revising the rules.
