And so many e-mails to clear out @_@

As the title said, I haven't played in two years, but now I'm back. What are the critical things I need to know?

Most importantly - where is everyone? I enter Atlas Park and it is dead. Not 'kind of quiet' dead, but 'not even people spamming for contests or sewer team' dead. Am I in the wrong zone, or is my 'home' server (Pinnacle) just dead?

Start here, read about the issues you missed.

There are a lot of new features tied to the paid expansion, Going Rogue, that synced with Issue 18.

Those include:

  • 4 new power sets.
  • Side switching
  • New starting zone, Praetoria, with branching missions. Level 1-20.
  • With Issue 19 is the Level 50 only content with the start of the Incarnate system.

Before Issue 19 we got;
  • Power color and some animation customization.
  • High end graphic options if you have the hardware to enable them.
  • Player designed missions.
  • Various bonuses for parking characters at certain locations while playing other characters (Day Jobs).
  • Missions joining with or fighting against alternate dimension and/or clone versions of yourself.
  • Using in game email to send inf or enhancements/recipes/salvage, including back to yourself to use on your other characters.
  • Little things like animated tails.
Also
  • Fitness Pool is now inherent. All characters get all 4 powers at Level 2, older characters already using the Fitness Pool need to respec to release those power choices and get the ones you haven't picked.

Most people are playing the new end game that came out with I19, so there won't be a lot of sewer teams going on now. Also a lot of people are making new Alts in Praetoria, a new starting zone levels 1-20.

Join a Pinnacle Global channel and you will see a lot of people still play. Go ask on the Pinnacle forums which ones are the best to join.

Welcome back, Mofeta.

While this game runs on instances, that was just as true two years ago as it is today.

What has changed since then is that there has been the introduction of Going Rogue, with a new starting zone going all the way to level 20. So when players finally leave Praetoria, they will be in the range of Talos/Independence Port.

Also, with the addition of Incarnate in i19 a lot of players on on their 50's and running the Incarnate arc, and then more higher level TF's to gather shards.

The addition of AE sent many players scrambling from Atlas/Mercy to get away from the "lf AE team" spam in broadcast.

I recommend joining some global channels.

And here n00b is those who won't learn.

You'd be a newb, not a n00b.

As previously suggested stop in the Pinnacle forums and get hooked up with some global channel goodness.
Praetoria and 50s are currently the big thing. (Also mentioned.)
If you can afford it and haven't gotten it yet i seriously suggest getting Going Rogue. Lots of fun possibilities in there beyond Praetoria and Incarnate stuff. Hero and Villain merits or being able to join teams on either side is a lot of fun.

Prices on the markets are a lot higher than you remember i'd imagine. Just remember that that also applies to the stuff you sell in addition to the stuff you buy.

i'd point you to some threads discussing game changes over the last couple of years, but i've had a long day and my search-fu/link-fu is shot. Here and General Discussion has had some good threads recently. Try to take some of the drama with a grain of salt. Especially any posts by me.

Mmm, recently returned after two years... advice... oh yeah! Avoid the brown acid.

Go. Play. Have fun.

Well, Pinnacle is one of the less populated servers. But by no means does that mean it's "dead". As others have said, join some of the Pinnacle global channels and don't be afraid to start teams sometimes instead of always looking for stuff already going on.

As for what you've missed in 2 years ...

I'm going to assume that you were here for Issue 12, which introduced the Midnighter's Club and Cimerora. In that case, go to this page and start with the link for Issue 13. A LOT has changed over the last two years, so it's easier to just point you in the right direction than try to make a list that even comes close to being accurate.
