Epic powers still can't Critical

Just tested it last night... not sure if the dev cares but I've been reporting it.

If the patron attacks can critical, I don't see why epics can't/shouldn't.

I used throwing stars last night.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Eh they're lesser specialized powers. Just like vet rewards which don't crit either under any circumstances (from what I've seen) that's because they're just an off set baring no weight on the character's real specialty.

Doesn't mean they shouldn't.

Jump Kick can crit.
Mace Beam/Blast can crit.
I expect Throwing Star to crit as well as Burn when we get it.

So long as it's a targeted power originating from the character and does damage, it should have the chance of double damage unless indicated specifically that it won't.

(Just to clarify: Lightning Rod won't crit because the damage doesn't originate from the character. Total Focus doesn't do double damage, just additional damage because it indicates it. Energy Transfer/Concentrated Strike doesn't crit at all because it is indicated as such. Vet Powers/Temp powers are not affected by inherent powers at all (no fury, no domination, no gauntlet, no crits, no defiance, etc). Those epic powers have no reason not to crit and do not indicate they won't.)

If the dev added critical to Patron powers, then I expect the same for Epic powers. In i18, there was no critical but I tested it again last night i19 to see if they've added, which they haven't. And because my throwing stars can't critical, I am going to respec again.

You think Epic/Patron powers are "lesser"? I certainly don't feel that way. Some of the powers are very good to have including the range attack like Dark Blast.

Using my stalker, fireball crits quite a bit (esp if on a full team on multiple mobs and from hide but also works when not hidden) from the epic set...not sure this helps out.

Well, that's very strange. I know for sure throwing stars can't and now I just respec them out.

Anybody else has epic powers to test?

Well, looking at the information in a respec on a stalker:
  • Blaze Mastery offers an additional 55.61 Damage @ level 50 for hidden status or against placated targets.
  • Body, Darkness, and Weapon Mastery offers no additional damage on hidden status or against placated targets
On the Patron Side
  • Soul Mastery offers an additional 55.61 damage against dark blast and 127.90 damage against moonbeam on hidden status or against placated targets
  • Mace Mastery offers additional 55.61 damage against mace blast, 127.90 damage against mace beam, and a 50% chance for 55.61 damage against disruptor blast on hidden status and against placated targets.
  • Leviathan Mastery offers an additional 55.61 damage on Spirit Shark for hidden status or against placated targets.
  • Mu Mastery offers an additional 55.61 damage against Mu Bolts and 76.74 extra damage against Zapp on hidden status and against placated targets; as well as a 20% chance for 76.74 extra damage on held or sleeping targets against Zapp performed while not in a hidden state.
We do know that the combat information isn't entirely accurate for scrappers as the chance for critical while in a team isn't listed in the combat data exposed to the player: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Inherent

My suspicion is that the Assassination Team Critical reads it's damage count from the same data table that provides the damage for critical attacks from a Hide State.

Now, is that working as intended? I don't know. Probably is something to go yank on Black Scorpion's tail about.

* * *

*runs back through the thread carrying a section of armor that looks like it may have once bolted onto a scorpion tail*

Okay! Tail has been yanked! Gotta move before it catches up!

Oh gee, that makes sense then. Why did they only add to Blaze Mastery and not the others? I know I've PMed Castle about it weeks ago.

Well, with Black Scorpion and Synapse now running the powers, it probably got pushed onto their desks, and they are probably crushed with I20 workloads.
