I am recently returning to an old toon that hasn't seen the sun in a long time, and is due an I19 respec. I would love some number crunching to help me get this invul/SS tank up and running.
I would mostly use him for TFs and teaming, his sets are haphazard, but it was mostly done as they dropped, with little or no panning on my part. Money isn't really and issue as i have around 2 bill from other toons, but that doesn't mean i want to spend it all.

I work on a Mac at the office, but always love build tweaking. Any chance you could post the entire build with bonus totals? Maybe even tell us what your result def numbers look like?

Oy, you are familiar with ED, right? Because you're wasting a ton of slots by way (way, way) overslotting your armors. Remember, once you've hit the ED cutoff of 56% enhancement for resistance or defense, you lose almost all of the benefit of any additional slotting. Toggles don't need more than 4 slots as a rule, and passives 1-4 depending on the base value and how many slots you have available.

Keep in mind when you respec that Unyielding, Invinc, KoB and Rage all should be taken as soon as they're available; you do NOT want to be without them when exemping if you don't have to be. The resistance passives can easily be delayed until the 20 or beyond.

You don't want to slot Jab with a Taunt set, Taunt sets don't provide any damage or end reduction enhancement. If you want a Taunt set bonus (I'd recommend Mocking Beratement instead of Perfect Zinger) slot them in Taunt itself.

Dull Pain is very underslotted, you should try to get as close to the ED cut-off of 95% as possible for both Heal and Recharge.

With Stamina becoming inherent, you have three more powers to play with. I'm also not a fan of Focused Accuracy, end hog that it is, so I'd suggest dropping that too, which gives you four. I'd recommend that you pick up CJ (you may have to) and three powers from the Fighting Pool for additional S/L resistance and overall defense. If you don't have to get CJ, Hasten would also be a good choice.

Many Invul tankers drop either Unstop or ResEl, so if you want CJ, Hasten and the Fighting Pool dropping one of them is also an option.

Are you a 60 month vet? If not, you can't take SJ without a prereq, so take CJ, which gives a nice defense boost.

Speaking of defense, S/L/E/NE and secondarily, F/C defense bonuses is the way most Invul tankers are slotting nowdays. Some sets to look for are: Reactive Armor for the resist toggles, Kinetic Combat and Smashing Haymaker for ST attacks, Eradication for AoE attacks, Thunderstrike for Ranged attacks, etc. I just helped someone with their Invul/EM tank in this thread, and I think it would be useful if you looked at what he (and I) did there.

The only downside is that rage isn't perma (my current build does away with the +ToHit improvements in favor of just having rage up as much as possible).

Hover's thrown in at the end to save you the price of a jetpack. Though, if you're that long a continuously-running veteran, you should be able to select Fly anyhow. Also, you can take it earlier in the build.

And, if money's no object for you, you could build with Enzymes instead and save a few more slots for other things.

I like your suggestions, and will rebuild with a lean towards the soft capped def, and i would like to keep perma rage if possible. I also will take your advise on losing unstop.
I would love to go the hami route, but with them running aprox 250mil a pop, i may have to put that aside for the time being.

Yeah. Your best bet there is to get into the STF and Hami-Raid scene if you wanna do that.

Note: I do NOT recommend taking this tank out without LOTS of support. (And I mean LOTS.) It's soft-capped to everything! Plus some. So it's got a bit of a cushion for defense debuffs.

It's even perma-Rage outside of Hasten. 75% global recharge before Hasten.

However:

  1. Base Accuracy before set bonuses and FA SUCK. Not even an SO's worth.
  2. It does jack squat for damage. Baseline all the way. It SHOULD hold aggro like nobody's business though...
  3. It's a massive End pig. It's idle End use is roughly 3/4 of recovery. And with no EndRed on the attacks. Get your Cardiac booster ready FAST.
  4. If you want to use FootStomp, you fall out of cap on E/N (due to taking off Hover). You could get around this with Maneuvers, and replacing the two single-aspect Def enhancers with Common EndReds. But your endurance woes remain. Bring a bunch of pocket buffers. Because the Rage and Hasten crashes will kill you.

The point is to be creative when looking for solutions. Don't get locked into "I have to have A,B,C,D,E,F,etc". That and understand what the tradeoffs you're making are.

Hey, I'm all for creative. I thought it was creative to slot 3 Thunder Strike and 2 slot Basilisk's Gaze in an epic hold attack.

But you've gotta draw the line somewhere, and for me, having attacks so poorly slotted is definitely over the line.

ok i fiddled a bit, and i think this is a better build with some of your suggestions. one item of note, i somehow didn't get my stamina in the build so the slots you see in a prestige dash would be used for an end mod set prolly adrenal modifiers as i have it already. I actually have most of these sets except the hamis and as many reactive armors as i see, but it will be a build in the making, and what i can't buy i will sit normal crafted IOs till i can fill the spot

Something is definitely screwed up in your version of Mid's--the level 14 power comes up blank, though from the forum post it's slotted as Health, and Health appears again at level 24. Tough is missing, too. I would recommend installing the updated version of Mid's before posting again.

I know this is a respec, but your power order still leaves a lot to be desired. Unyielding at 20 and Invinc at 30 is going to get you killed if you exemp. Not to mention that you want Foot Stomp available as early and often as possible. The resistance passives, ResEl and ResEn in particular, can easily be delayed until the 30s or 40s.

Your armor slotting is all over the map; ResEl is way overslotted, but all three of the defense powers are significantly underslotted. Invinc, TH and Weave all need another slot or one of the current slots swapped for a LotG Defense. (Weave is the only one of the three that needs substantial end reduction.)

Kinetic Combat is a good choice for S/L defense, but it needs another slot to have sufficient accuracy and damage. You should consider putting another set in Punch to get closer to the S/L soft-cap.

Mako's Bite and Scirocco's Dervish are both poor choices for Invul since they have primarily positional defense bonuses. Instead, use Eradication in Foot Stomp and Thunderstrike in Hurl to get some E/NE defense.

IMO, F/C defense should only be a priority once you've soft-capped S/L/E/NE. That said, 3-slotting Aegis in the resistance passives is a good choice, especially if you've maxed out the bonuses for Reactive Armor.

Dull Pain needs another slot; you want to get as close to the ED cut-off as possible for both Heal and Recharge. A Numina Heal would help, but I prefer Doctored Wounds for DP because it has better recharge.

I prefer Mocking Beratement to Perfect Zinger; the S/L def bonus is slightly smaller, but it has a larger recharge bonus and a substantial F/C def bonus as well.

Here's the sort of thing I would do with your build. The powers are re-ordered and re-slotted; S/L defense is capped with one foe in range of Invinc, E/NE defense is at 41%. With inherent Stamina you might want to consider taking Hasten and maybe LBE from the epic pool.

thanks, i didn't see what you would do with the inherent fitness pools anything goes for the health and stamina? I see alot of people use the inherent health for uniques, and i figured stamina i could put nearly anything and it would be a bonus to me.
I do appreciate your time, and i am slowly getting dragged out of the cave i swear.
oh yeah i like the frankenslot on the footstomp very interesting

Yes, Health is a great place for the regen/recovery uniques, straight Heal slotting is fine too; it really depends on your budget. However, I wouldn't put more than 4 slots in it.

For Stamina, I usally go with 3 slots, one of which is the PF +End. The other two can be common end mod IOs or the PF End Mod and a common, or some variation on that. Again, I wouldn't use more than 3 or at most 4 slots in Stamina.
