Need to toughen up my WP tank a bit

Hi fellow tankers! I have a really nice WP/fire tank that is my main. I play it on +0/x8 all the time. Most of the time I have very few problems. I just hurl myself headlong into the thickest part of the mob and roll my face on the attack buttons until all baddies are dead. There are a few villain groups that tend to wipe me out -

Longbow
Arachnos sometimes
malta sappers and dark ring mistress give me slight fits but I just spank the hell out of them first now.

I am alpha slotted for recharge to get my AOE attacks up more quickly but I am game to change it if there is compelling enough reason.

Anyways...

My build is here:

The extra slot in fast healing is for the panacea proc I am saving up for now.

Any suggestions on how to make this char a touch more survivable would be great, thanks folks!

The easiest way to increase survivability is to increase defense. You may want to consider aiming for 32.5% S/L defense so you can soft-cap with a small purple when you need to survive the tougher fights. Kinetic Combats are probably the easiest option for obtaining that goal, but they will cost you some recharge bonuses.

This exactly. You can make yourself a lot tougher but you are gonna sacrifice recharge to do it. You will last longer in a fight but the fights will take longer to finish. As an aside Arachnos and Longbow can be *** kickers to many characters, so dying to them now and again on x8 is certainly no shame.

those groups have alot of various debuffs that will ruin most tankers days, not just WP.

I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.

Yeah you are right, there... it really is the debffs that get me down. I can be far far above the agro cap on pretty much anything else with this tank and it doesnt even tickle funny....

I guess there probably is no good way to avoid debuffs except by building for really high defensive numbers which probably costs far mroe recharge in mybuild than I am willing to give up...

Guess Ill just stick to eating inspirations for the alpha strike...

I suggest Tough/Weave, Manuevers and CJ.

I also suggest build for(in order):

+HP (including accolade): for a target of 3200-3300ish HPs (unless you swim in influence and can afford the Billion inf sets).

+Regen: aim for 70ish hp/sec without RttC.

+Defense: hard to do with all the other requirements.

But you WP will always be vulnerable to burst damage, +hp (bonuses, accolades) will help against that.
Plus, the +hp will also help you regen more, with the same regeneration rate.
Defense is always nice though but it's tough to get into the build

yeah for hp I am at 3169 atm seems pretty strong... As for the rest, I have been considering dropping resurgence and SoW for manuvers and assault. I am concerned about carrying that many toggles though (that would make 9 total running all the time)

oh BTW does anyone know if the healing portion of the recharge alpha slot helps with regen?

Posted

Yes it does help with regen .

And you should have manuevers, of course. It's vital!

Grab physical perfection (+regen, +recovery) to help with both regen and endurance.
Then, grab maneuvers.

Cool well good news about the regen from alpha slotting then... AS to physical perfection... I just cant convince myself to give up fireball to get it...

I can throw you a build that will live through just about anything. Downside is, it doesn't have a great deal of recharge to it.

If I get time later today I'll put it together for you.
