ATs and Genders
Probably 60/40 Female/male. I'd probably have more male characters, but I hate the way they run.
I've an equal mix, myself. Depends entirely on how the concept works.
Unless we're talking about Arachnos Widows. I ain't staring at the back end of a man in shiny spandex for ten levels, waist capes or not.
Necrobond - 50 BS/Inv Scrapper made in I1
Rickar - 50 Bots/FF Mastermind
Anti-Muon - 42 Warshade
Ivory Sicarius - 45 Crab Spider
Aber ja, natrlich Hans nass ist, er steht unter einem Wasserfall.
I only play on one server and of the 36 character slots, 32 are Female and 4 are Male.
Psst... would be happy to buy more Character Slots than 36! Thankyouverymuch!

I tend to come up with concepts first, some very fleshed out, some less so, and the gender is part of that concept. Then I decide on which AT to make.
I'd say my male/female ratio (counting huge as male) is about 50/50. Got both genders spread over all ATs.

90% of my characters are female.
Of those who are male, one's a defender, one controller, one MM and one scrapper.
So... no. The AT has nothing to do with gender for me.
PS: I looooove my female Brute!
Almost all my toons are male, one toon out of my 37 50s is female. She is a Necro/Traps MM, I do have one other female toon. She is an Elec/Rad controller. I have at least one of every AT (except kheld) at 50.
My wife plays only female toons and she has several ATs at 50, I think she is missing a Tank, Kheld, and soldier.
I had to examine my own list, because I hadn't considered the notion of one type of AT having a larger gender percentage than another. But, sadly, I think I actually end up contributing to this.
I only play on Virtue, and here is my breakdown:
Male: 12I'm pretty even across all AT types except melee, having only 1 female to the 6 male. But, I guess the balance there comes from the fact that my only melee toon to hit 50 (hey, I only have 3 50's total) is my female Dark/Shield Scrapper, Princess Morana. Also, Princess Morana shares the "most fun for me" spot with my forum name-sake, Eden's Fall (my Kin/Energy Defender).
Female: 7
Total: 19
Male Melee: 6
Female Melee: 1 (My only 50 melee is my female Dark/Shield Scrapper)
Total Melee: 7
(Scrapper, Stalkers, Tanks, Brutes)
Male Blasters: 1
Female Blasters: 2
Total Blasters: 3
(Note: Blasters are their own category to me since, of the non-melee standard ATs, they are the only ones who also couldn't be classified as support in someway...i.e. holds, heals, buffs, etc)
Male Support: 3
Female Support: 3
Total Support: 6
(Controllers, Defenders, Corrupters, Dominators, Masterminds)
Male HEAT's: 1
Female HEAT's: 0
Total HEAT's: 1
Male VEAT's: 1 (Crab Spider)
Female VEAT's: 1 (Night Widow)
Total VEAT's: 2
The vast majority of my characters are male. I have a handful of female and non-gendered characters (mostly robots there.)
Of my women characters, the one that I most consciously was trying to play off-type would have to be my Mastermind. Some friends and I were having a discussion about how there are no MM primaries with female pets, and one said they suspected the reason is because a male character completely controlling a small harem of women who they objectify might be kind of sexist. I countered that with the system now, there's no reason somebody couldn't make a female mastermind who objectified her male minions whom she has complete control over. Thus, Big Sally, owner of 'Big Sal's Sausage Bar' was born. (I would like to state for the record that I did not come up with the name of her business. )
On the other hand, I do have a male widow (he's 50.) I also have a Psy/Mental Blaster who I remade as a Praetorian whose story says that he was part of a trial program of male Seers, but Mother Mayhem wouldn't stand for it.
Proud member of Everyday Heroes (Infinity Heroes), Dream Stalkers (Infinity Villains), Devil Never Cry (Freedom Heroes), Enclave of EVIL (Pinnacle Villains), Phobia (Infinity Villains), Les Enfant Terribles (Freedom Villains), Gravy Train (Virtue Heroes), and more!
Full, detailed character list
i have a female crab as well, the backpack actually looks pretty good on the body type.
Although gender isn't really a factor when I make a character, I would guess most of mine are male by default. Having seen Eden's Fall's list, I want to make one of my own.

I play mostly male toons myself. Out of my 28 characters 4 of them are females. 3 Defenders and 1 Tank. Personally I tend to think of defensive sets more of females than males, but I have plenty of male defenders too, so... :P
My Tank was made female because I had what I thought was a very cool name for it that fits her powersets, and it doesn't work on a male, lol.
Generally speaking though, it's an almost even mix from what I see. I see both males and females on all ATs. Hell I've seen plenty of female brutes/tankers as well (A few of my female friends play exclusive females toons and they play those ATs..that probably contributes to it as well, lol).

I tend to use a stereotypical body type rather than gender for the characters I play. Tanker are big and burly. Sczappers are somewhat less so. All the rest are generally "athletic" or thin, with controllers/dominators usually being the most petite.
Whew... okay, a list. Definitely more males than females, and I apparently loooove Blasters and Scrappers. (Also, I can't believe that I have 117 males. That number follows me around, so to have it show up yet again is crazy.)
Male = 117
Female = 49
50s
M = 3 (Blaster, Blaster, Brute Demon, Robot, Cyborg)
F = 1 (Blaster Human)
Blaster
M = 22
F = 10
Brute
M = 8
F = 2
Controller
M = 6
F = 10
Corruptor
M = 8
F = 3
Defender
M = 15
F = 4
Dominator
M = 0
F = 3
Mastermind
M = 4
F = 0
Peacebringer
M = 6
F = 3
Scrapper
M = 29
F = 9
Soldier
M = 1
F = 0
Stalker
M = 1
F = 1
Tanker
M = 14
F = 3
Warshade
M = 3
F = 1
Widow
M = 0
F = 1

And that includes my Brute Brawlin' Babe and my Tankers Flambe' and TechnoValkyrie and my Scrappers Libby Belle (Liberty Belle was taken), Broadsword Barbie (not dressed in pink but I liked the alliteration), Barbara Kelvin (spines/fire), Jazzercise (a soccer mom MA/Regen), and 3 others, and my Stalker (Lethality).
So, yeah, I have a stable of female meleers to go with another larger stable of squishies.

I have an almost equal number of male and female toons, since I usually alternate the gender when-ever I create a new one, but the AT breakdown is something I'd never thought about.
Tanks? 3 female vs. 3 male
Scraps? 2 female vs. 3 male
Stalkers? 3 female vs. 3 male
Controllers? I only have one. He's male.
Blasters? 1 female vs. 2 male
Defenders? 3 female vs. 2 male
Kheldians? One of each. My Peacebringer is male, my Warshade is female.
VEATs? Again, one of each. Female Widow, male Bane.
So, yeah. Looking at my own crew, there does seem to be a very slight bias towards the guys when it comes to Scraps and Blasters, and an equally slight bias towards the gals with Defenders. Everything else is about equal.
