Game Freeze

When I first started playing this game it would freeze every time that I tried to change the graphics settings. So I went to google and found that if I ran the game in XP SP2 compatibility mode it would work. Well that is it did work, for a while. I went to change a setting today and every time I move a slider. It freezes. Please help and here is my info.

Well, you could try the following..couldn't hurt.

Download Malwarebytes free and run it..if it discovers any bad stuff, delete them.

Uninstall/reinstall your video driver. I was having freezes a short time after logging in and after doing the above, my freezes stopped. Good luck, and don't give up.

thanks for the advice. The system is clean, but I will try the drivers. Maybe I'll run driver sweeper and reinstall see if that solves it. Google says its a common problem, but there have been no answers.

It runs fine with my GTX 260 with 260.99

What drivers are you running? Other people have rolled back to 197.45

Another thing that has been talked about is video cards overheating with CoX. Apparently, the grahics are not intense enough to make the graphics card to kick in full fans but enough to make the card unstable. Try manually setting the gpu fan at 100%

I am using 260.99. I use Riva Tuner and speed fan. It's not a heat problem for sure. It never freezes while I play and the temp stays around 65c. I ran driver sweeper and reinstalled the 260.99 and still same issue. The other time it freezes is when I go to exit the game. Only way I can exit is to bring task manager up and end the program.

I guess I will try the 197.45 and see if that solves the problem.

Riva Tuner is likely the culprit for your freezes. Turn off Riva Tuner before trying to open the Options window. It also causes problems with the windows for Contacts, Tailors and other game windows.

There is no need to run the game in XP Compatibility mode. That may be causing other issues as well. On the Compatibility tab, the only thing that should be checked is Run as Administrator. Some people also recommend using the Disable Desktop Composition and Disable Visual Themes settings, but I've not found a need for it on any Windows 7 installation I've done.

I have seen a multitude of problems reported when using the XP Compatibility Mode.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
