Ill/FF Build Help!
One thought is if you can fit 2 more slots into deceive you can put 5 coercive persuasions into it and get a 10% boost to your recharge. you could get those slots by taking 2 slots out of flash and put them in deceive, then take the lockdowns out of flash and put in 4 basilisk's gaze IOs instead which would give another 7.5% recharge bonus and you wouldnt lose effectiveness. replace the thunderstrikes in spectral wounds with decimations for another 6.25% recharge and a chance for build up proc. take the 2 recharge IOs out of sup invis since it's totally unncessary given the global recharge you are going to gain. You only need 4 expedient reinforcements in PA and can slot 2 recharge IOs for the rest of the slots since the recharge bonus for Exped Reinf is at 4 slots. If you can find 2 more slots you can add 2 to spectral terror and put in unspeakable terror for another 5% recharge. maybe from one of the knockback powers possibly as they will be used less (dependant on playstyle) Instead of gift of the ancients, consider 5 slotting defense powers with red fortune instead, giving you a recharge bonus as well as damage buff.
these are just what come to mind at first. I'm at work and so dont have mids to make a proper adjust. Otherwise looks nice

I did a quick rebuild for you. Unfortunately I've got to run out the door right now so I don't have time to explain all of my suggested changes. The build I'm presenting assumes you consider the Spiritual Alpha Slot for more Recharge. I did suggest changing your APP from Psi to Primal so you can Power Boost your shields and Flash (for Containment), and use Energy Torrent to knock over Feared enemies without them being able to shoot back as much (enemies who fall over due to an attack lose the ability to retaliate like they normally can). This build is moderately expensive. If you decide to go with a different Alpha Slot you can adjust accordingly--the +Defense one in particular could let you change some slots over to a Recharge focus (purples in particular) and still stay soft capped.
Note that I don't like having to 6 slot Boxing for this build. If you can find a way to pick up both Defense and Recharge in one power it would be a good idea to swap this part out.

Hey Griff, thanks for the help! I've been messing around and using your suggestions in mids and I'm liking what I see so far! The recharge IO's were supposed to be endReduc IOs (as superior invis has a REALLY high end cost to run)...I must have misclicked when I put them in there.

- Is there a compelling reason (beyond the end cost) for choosing group invis over superior invis?
- How important is it to take the fighting tree? With dispersion bubble and superior invis, the toggle endurance cost is already *really* high.

- Is there a compelling reason (beyond the end cost) for choosing group invis over superior invis? |
How important is it to take the fighting tree? With dispersion bubble and superior invis, the toggle endurance cost is already *really* high. |
(I'm trying to keep to the psychic epic due to character concepts). |
Psi+Energy could work with the ability to change colors now...I hadn't thought about how Power Boost affected force fields. That *is* handy! Perhaps I will put build 2 as my energy one and build 1 as my psi one and see how they compare for me.
I'll definitely add fighting back into the mix, if I go with Group Invis...the group I run with tend to group up and I know our brute would be annoyed at being made invisible (I've gotten complaints in the past from tanks a year ago when I last played this character with any regularity >.<).
Does it get annoying to manage having so many abilities that you try and keep clicked? (Hasten, Group Invis, PA?)

Ok, so new revised build with new revised goals.
Goals:
- Soloability (primarily, not running out of end quickly (difficult with both superior invis and dispersion bubble) and being able to survive if something notices me)
- Certain powers must stay in the build: Superior Invis must stay in the build (there's really no real good reason other than I like it better than group invis :P), Recall Friend must stay in the build (I like providing transportation services).
- Perma-PA (or close)
Notes: I took the extra powers in leadership because I was running out of things to take. They made good spots for set bonuses but there may be something better to be done with those powers, perhaps?

I like the build. Just made a ILL/FF myself (seemed like a nice concept) but I'm terrible at making builds. :/ The char is 32 now and quickly moving through well-timed groups and tfs.
J-Man- Lieran, if you were Paris Hilton, I'd be the chihuahua in your purse.
I've loved it so far. I leave my toggles running, bubble the team, and spend most of my time just popping PA and Terror, and blasting! The bubbles will make you one of the most popular people on your server (at least it does on mine!)

I deleted my Illusion/FF and changed it to Grav/FF but the same sort of things still apply.
In the beginning you will want to take something power pool fighting oriented. I do enjoy the fighting pool, and I like the added defense of that sets later powers.
However I might suggest taking super jump because it does have an attack and the defenses later benefit against being knocked back.
Really if you want to speed up damage before PA then I would suggest maxing Blind, and Spectral wounds, but having a melee attack in there as well. I really like Air Superiority for offering an element of soft control. But truthfully Boxing works well too, and if used and specced for damagem accuracy and Disorient, it will add to the mags of control you have if the stun goes off. It also does decent damage when an enemy is held.
I use Boxing and kick on my Grav/FF because the recharge is fast, and the animation is quicker than Propel, but with illusion spectral wounds does well.
As for Group invis, I am not a super fan of this power, mainly because running dispursion bubble is more favorable and it saves you a ton of slots and endurance. Superior invis is good and I would take that and slot it for recharge redux and defence if you need to turtle up in your PFF, and I would suggest throwing in Aid Self. If you are in personal force field and invis your defense is really effective and you rarely will be interupted.
Again all tactics I have used. The only reason I deleted my Illusion/FF is because frankly, I found it to be excellent, but not generally my playstyle at the moment. Grav I wanted because I can see the strategic elements of the set, while illusion to me is more a 1-2-3-4 game style. Open PA, Hit Blind, Hit Spectral wounds, and then hit Spectral wounds again.
It was just not my thing.
Hi all, been away a while and still getting used to the IO system (wasn't able to play as much right around the time IOs came out and only recently got back into the game). My controller is nearing 50 and I was messing around in Mid's, trying to figure out how the heck to slot him and came up with the stuff below. If I'm missing something obvious or need to think about certain things more, do let me know!
The main goals for me with him are:
- Survivability
- Controls
- Medium damage
- Fun! (knocking low level trolls off the cliffs in the holows at 3 million mph is hillarious, as an example)
One question I had: Is perma-PA possible these days? (or close?) I see some people mention it but I'm not sure how to go about trying for it. Is my slotting completely messed up? Should I be focusing on something else as an Ill/FF Controller?
